Etching makume

I have a lovely piece of makume that I want to use as bolsters for a folder I will be making. My one question is how does one recover the pattern after shaping the pieces?

I believe that is mosaic damascus, not mokume' .

Duh... I feel like an idiot. I think you are right.

I'm sure it's mosaic Damascus, but you do the same thing with the mokume but not so long, meaning the ferric chloride solution soak. Frank

and if i were you i woudl mask off the back of the bolster to keep it nice and flat and unetched
