I have a personalizer plus and stencils from Ernie. I tape up the stencil on the blade and etch accourding to directions. The etch comes out fine but I keep getting little etched lines at the corners of the stencil. Has anyone ever had this happen and how could i fix it?

Thanks

I think the etching fluid is running off the etch. Try and tape it off all the way around and don't let the fluid touch any other part of the knife during the process.

In the other threads two things are stressed, 1 lift often to release gasses building up and 2 use a damp pad. Wet the pad and touch to a cloth or paper towel, it only needs to be damp no free water.. Like pancho says tape all the way around so the pad does not touch the steel anywhere else, it will mark if it does.

Since I make my own stencils I use to make them as small as possible. But even when I would tape carefully, I would sometimes still get four dots where the four pieces of tape crossed each other. Now I just make the stencils the entire width of the blade so I have two parallel pieces of tape. That way the tape does't have to go up and over another piece of tape which leaves a TINY gap that can leave a mark.

Yeah to wet. I tried using a q-tip on my last knife and eliminated the haze and any lines from the stencil. You have to keep moving the q-tip around and make sure your clamo is on the moist cotton
take care

I use the clear tape as Ernie suggested and blot my pad before etching to reduce wetness. It is somehow getting into the joint between the tape at the corners. Would coloring that area with a sharpie or putting some clear nail polish on the steel under the corners help?
