Well i got my Stencils today and thy are just amazing. i tried them out and thy make a great mark. i did notice that after etching i have a bit of black around the mark that i can easily remove with some 600 grit paper. but the knife I'm doing for the Christmas exchange has a bead blasted blade and i was wondering how i am to do this and not have to sand it and mess up that blasted finish? any help would be great. i was thinking to just re blast it after i etch it but then i will loose the black inside the lines.

Can you etch first in just DC and then blast? I don't have any knowledge in blasting, how thick is it. If you etched first then blasted would your logo be visible without the black? I have seen several blades etched without using AC and it looked neat?

Have you heard anymore on this? Seems like a good question and likely to be a common challenge for many.

I had the same problem until I started completely taping the stencil to the blade. Don't be tempted to lift the stencil to check before you are completely done etching. Also make sure the stencil is clean and dry before each use. It is also possible you used too much electrolyte, you don't have to soak the pad just enough to get it moist. I make my own stencils, and if I do the aforementioned steps I get a clean etch that requires no touch ups.
