Is there a good homemade solution/fluid for etching w/an etchomatic if not
what would you recomend i buy.

Thanks,Bryce

I use 1 cup water 1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp TSP. Really any saline solution will work. you can replace the TSP with 1 drop of soap. Make a little and try it on some test pieces. This worked better than their solution. Wet the pad and dab on a paper towel to remove excess and dont press too hard.

I follow Patrick's solution and it works well for me. I've used it on 440C, O-1, and CPM 154 with Crawford's etcher modified at 12V.

If you use 1 steel regularly, buy some electrolyte from TUS Tech.
They have specific solutions for specific steels, or families of steels.
Works like a champ, and is cheap.
A bottle just might last forever, unless it goes bad...
