Ethan becker , what do you think of this?

Just send me your address and I'll mail you a set. Free!

I know you're probably pretty unhappy with the situation right now. But if a free set of Grivory scales will turn this around for you, I'll cover the cost. No problem.

Just email me your address and I'll get em out tomorrow.

Can I get this thread deleted ? I'll take another look at it later , try some of the suggestions. I wasn't calling Ethan out , just asking for an opinion. Guess I went the wrong way about it , sorry.

nah man you ok it can get frustrating when these things happen as you can see the community is helpful at least.

Ausse, that was very big of you to offer an apology. Beckers made me a "Knife Guy". Great knives for the price. That said, occasionally there are issues for reasons previously mentioned. You'll come to love it, once this blows over.

Buncha standup dudes you Beckerheads are, offering to ship scales on your dime to help a budding beckerhead. Seriously, that's awesome of you. I'd offer a set of scales, because I too have plenty, but I'd just be piling on. You guys rock.

When it comes to Becker's emotions can run hot. The anticipation and excitement crushed by a faulty knife (or perceived/potentially faulty) could be devastating. We understand. Having to wait for a solution no matter how quickly or correctly it is handled is no fun, no fun at all. No fear the Beckerheads are on it! Best knife community ever. :emot-yarr:

If the screws are too tight, it will flare out on one side. My 16 came that way, once they were loosened and reattached everything was gravy. Did you try it?

Yeah thanks guys , last night I removed the scales using my leatherman new wave and the bit kit . The knife itself sits flat on a flat surface , so I don't think it's the knife . I'm busy this weekend , so I dunno when I'll find time to play with it again. After re attaching the scales I still have a gap I could sit my bank card in

As long as you had to wait for your Becker's to arrive from the states i would not be very happy to see any imperfections on them either.:o

A. Ethan does not manufacture the knives, Ka-Bar does. They also offer the warranty and an email and phone# to contact them regarding it.
B. Posting less than useless pictures with no description of the problem accomplishes what?
C. Ethan has gone out of his way time and again on this forum to help anyone with a problem, rare as they are.
D. Your complaint comes across as just plain childish, take a breath.

Why should he have to put up with a product that has a defect? Just because it's an affordable knife doesn't mean he shouldn't get the product he paid for. Personally I would take up Darksidedenny on his offer. I would also make sure the knife itself is not warped.
I don't understand the problem. If there is indeed a small gap... what's the big deal?

The tang is fully coated. It's not going to corrode if moisture gets on it.

If the issue is that the scales are not perfectly flush with the tang... again, what's the big deal?

If it's somehow so out-of-whack that the knife is uncomfortable to use, contact Ka-Bar.

There's a reason why Becker knives are so affordable, yet so reliable... they use very good materials and modern manufacturing methods to keep costs under control. They are not 100% handmade customs.

These knives are mass-produced and have mass-produced scales bolted to them. The way the bolts are configured, it's a very simple matter to snug them up a bit with an Allen wrench.

Yeah I'll message Denny soon . I got a lot of things to do this weekend , but I'm pretty sure it's just the scales and not the knife . One way to find out ; I take the scales off my two and sit them on my ten , see if they sit right. Ok here we go , here's another photo in better light of the gap. image.jpg I've got my two out , gonna remove scales of both knives , see if the bk2 scales sit flat on it.

I swapped the bk10 scales with my bk2 also grivory ones , they sit perfect. It's just the scales . Not the knife. I'm gonna take up Denny's ( and others) very generous offer of free scales . Thanks guys. I really love my beckers. Ignore the attached pic it was of the original gap.
