Ethan: "I'll be back."

Hey Everybody......

First I would like to thank you all for the kind words......... After the phone went out for a while yesterday as well as the power having been out for too long I decided to take refuge at Brother Crenshaw's........... So I loaded up Elliot ( Da Moose's great Lab puppy ) drained the water system and headed for warmer space..... Also 110 for the blessed CPAP........... There are, according to the co-ops web site, five crews working my neighborhood...... When I went out day before yesterday there were about twenty trees down on the road in the three miles to the bridge and another eighty or ninety before I hit Sloan's wonderful merchantile emporium..... Almost all pines........ The county crews had yet to be out but the Citico Beach Volunteer Fire Department and land owners had cleared a twisted path...... I only had to cut and clear one largish pine.....
It really is nice to see everybody pulling together........ I live on an electric spur with only five full time customers so am on the bottom of the list........ As of this morning the co-op still has six thousand customers without juice so I suspect that I will be at the Camp Crenshaw Refugee Camp till the weekend....

I am damned lucky to have good friends and a place that is warm, dry and has juice and internet..... I really missed the internet....... Knowing what is going on helps a lot.......

Hope all is well with you.......

E

Sounds like you're roughing it in style boss, hang in there!

I remember the ice storm of '77, I believe it was. We were out of power for 10 days. I thought it was the greatest thing ever, haha. Kerosene heaters, cooking on the propane stove, etc. My dad, who was a lineman, hated it though. He was putting in mega hours.
I think it was 1978. Northern Germany got its share too that year. I was less than a year old so I've no clue. However my dad and his helicopter crew flew supplies to people and transported some sick and pregnant to hospitals because the roads couldn't be cleared.

Glad you are back Ethan. :D

Good to hear you're doing well E.
I have stuff I can't get out of at work next week, but if you need help with storm cleanup around your place after the 27th, I could take some time off and head your way then.

Hey Vik......

Interestingly enough the drive is clear(as of day before yesterday)....... A couple of trees went down west of the house....No big deal...... I have no fricking idea about the roads and Beckerhead Camp...... I really do appreciate the offer... A lot.......

It is amazing to me what ten years this far south has done for my cold and crummy weather tolerance.....I now have NONE........ I have a bunny hunt planned with Uncle Wallace late next week in southern South Carolina and am thinking about heading that way Monday....LOL.......

I just got word the power is back on.....More later.....

Ethan

I hear that! I've only been down here about 3 years after 40 years in north/central WI... and I've become a total wimp about winter weather. Miss Angie teases me about that often :o

Hey boss, glad to hear you're alright! Tell Crenshaw if he doesn't take good care of you I'll be seeing him at Blade and will make him cringe! If you need anything lemme know. I'll probably give you a call when you're driving to South Carolina.

I often tell my wife that we need to move south. Just because I have to live in it, does not mean I like it!
