John, I remember your posting on that, good post too.
If you don't mind being our "question" guy, got any tips to help out get started. I figured Goggle will have the most answers, but I think any points from someone who built one before, might prove quite valuable.

Thanks Moose, but I'm afraid I'm no expert.
I've only thrown the atlatl darts, never built or even owned one. The pics here are from a stone tools event at Letchworth State Park. I can tell you that it's a lot of fun, and you get lots of power and accuracy using an atlatl to launch a projectile into a bale of hay.![]()
Some questions:
Is the contest open to ANY gold member, or just gold Beckerheads?
Must we construct both the atlatl AND the dart, or just the atlatl itself?
Can we use other, non Becker knives to finish the atlatl such as sandpaper and whatnot, or must all finishing and construction be done with a Becker knife? No finishing tools or material?
Gold Beckerheads, unless specified OPEN, all contests will be Beckerhead only
It must function, handle and spear make the set, make both, please.
No, BKT knives only, all natural methods and natural materials, stones for sandpaper, berries for dye, that sort of thing. All natural, baby, all natural.
Knives only for all of it. I will allow nylon paracord inner strand's for cordage, but natural cordage will win you more points with the EJudge.
