Ok, round 2 here we go.

Ethan's January Challenge is Trap making. You must make 3 traps, a Figure 4 Deadfall, a Piaute DeadFall (Natural and Synthetic Cordage OK), and a L7 Springtrap. Feel free to use whatever resources you want to, and YOU MUST USE A BECKER KNIFE AND TOOL PRODUCT TO DO ALL THE WORK. You will need to post pictures (i.e Action Shots) and/or videos to prove the work being done. No more than 12 photos per trap, and no videos longer than 6 min per trap. Feel free to add whether you have experience or if you are learning, it counts. No recycled photos or vids, this must be brand new.

They must function, and if it is legal for you to trap and kill animals in your area, you score extra points for that. Do not break the law or put yourself in danger of any criminal action

You must be at least 18yrs old and be able to own a knife. You are your responsible for your own safety, neither Bladeforum, The Beckerheads, or Ethan is responsible for you

1st Place wins a BK2 Campanion
2nd Place wins a BK11 Necker
3rd Place wins a Bk13 Remora

The contest will run until Feburary 10th at midnight, all entries must be in before then.

This is a Beckerhead contest. To enter, you must post in this thread, "I accept the challenge" and your Beckerhead number.

If you are not a Beckerhead when the contest begins, and you become one before the contest finish, you may accept the Challenge, and post your entry AFTER recieving your Beckerhead number.

Post your entries as soon as you want to, all entries will be judged by the Great and Powerful Ethan Becker, after the contest is completed. POST YOUR ENTRIES IN THIS THREAD

... and here are my photos. I decided to kill two birds (and some number of stuffed critters) with one stone here. In addition to using this challenge to learn more about the indicated traps, I decided to use this challenge to play with a little office bushcraft. So, using only Becker products (well, just a BK11) and items found in my office, I give you cubicle survival at its finest.

And the completed figure 4 complete with intended victim. Note the yummy and irresistible bait - a mango flavored Mike & Ike...

Last but not least, this is the venerable L7 Springtrap - just tie the free end of the mason's line to a handy spring and you're good to go. Poor stuffed critter.

Lessons learned:

* It's a good idea to have some cordage.
* Deadfalls are a pain in the butt to rig.
* Actual sticks are easier to work with than pencils.
* People look at you funny and make odd suggestions when you carve pencils at your desk.

I suggest we post our entry's in the thread we accept the challenge in.. to keep the contest pages, post and everything kinda consolidated..

no prob, another words I will post my 'entry' in post #14, this way most of the entries will be in the first few pages to make it easier to judge as oppose to skimming over 8 pages of randomly placed entries..

Maybe better yet, now you have your powers from Atlantis maybe we shouldn't chat or sumpin, maybe, maybe, maybe a January Entry Only thread?? dunno, just thinking out loud and would make judging easier..

and probably, the chatter? perhaps not so much, m00sey has to do extra work ;)

i should definitely get out there and build traps though. even if i can't win ;)

Less chatter would be nice. The smaller we keep this, the easier it is on Ethan to Judge. I'll go through and wipe out all the chatter and save the important stuff later on, once we start getting entries.
