Ethan's Trip to KaBar Olean/NY Last Week

So is that a different blade grind on the new BK2? it may be me but something looks slightly different than the current model - but then I may just be way off base! :)

did you have a specific picture in mind? as i recall, none of the example blanks were sharp.

maybe they'll ship a "sharpen your own BK2 kit" :)

It would be great to get a nice belt sander for the price of a BK2.

Real men would do it with a rock they chewed off a boulder with their teeth.
Everyone's so soft these days.

I was thinking more along the top swedge - almost as if the top profile of the blade looks flatter. it may just be the picture angles. I have to get a BK2 regardless. My first Necker is due in the mail on Wednesday :)

I knew you'd understand. -Daizee

since i knew it would just regrow, i yanked the tongue out of Chuck Norris and was using that, sometime lubricating it with the moisture that condensed off his ice cold eyes... but you know, after a while, the BK-02 wore it out, so i had to find another system, and Chuck sometimes gets crabby.

uhm, what?

what i mean is will the CUTOUTS in the new BK2, fit a D Shackle pin? I have a bunch of D shackles in my truck recovery kit and wonder if the BK2 handle cutouts would fit them! :)

how would you hold that? ;)

via the handle, with the shackle pin in the middle. (make sense?) and leveraging on the spine.

daizee,

Sorry for the long wait.
The weight difference between the old BK-2 blank (heavy) and the new BK-2 blank (lighter) is 1.26 ozs. The balance point will shift slightly forward on the new blade but not so much that anyone will notice.
But it seems that this info is all moot now. Congrats on your new purchase.

Any idea when the new MachAx will be out? Can you give us the specs as well (length, weight) on the new version of the MachAx?

depusm,

Really don't know yet. Drawings are done on my part but it needs more paperwork and a special Siepmann grinding machine; which we did buy. Now all we have to do is install it and get it up and running.
We will have to talk with Ethan and figure out priorities.(Small Beckers, BK-10, MachAx, Folders are all on the docket) Could be in 2011.
I know that isn't what you want to hear but we have to juggle Beckers, KA-BARs and alot of other products through the factory.
We'll get there. Patience is a virtue.
General dimensions should be the same as the old model. Grinds and swedges will change.

i'd imagine the MachAx is the most important knife ever ;) i should like to see hand made prototypes in the couple weeks :) heh.

"real soon now" :)

course, now all the "BK-10 crowd", and "omg the campanion should be thinner crowd" is going to go nuts ;) they should cultivate patience ;)

patience |ˈpā sh əns|
noun
1 the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.

The heck with that... we want it now (whatever it may be).

Bladie/DBob,
If you can keep SideShowBob from stealing all of my prototypes, things will move a lot faster.......He must have an in with Ethan.
Toooj

if ANYONE should be getting a MachAx prototype, it's me, that's all *I* am saying ;)

Hmmm... do you think it's really possible that he might have an in with Ethan?:D

Maybe he's practicing his stealth ninja arts, and capturing prototypes in the dead of night.:D
