Ethnic Make Up

Well, Mizes paid taxes in Mass. before 1700. Best bet they were protestant Alsatian Germans, migrated to Hugonaut France then to Scotland before embarking to the new world.. Mamas side Welch and McCrory. There is an obscure McCrory tartan. The Mizes also had the Eddings and the Vennables in the family tree. My Great great Aunt Annie had a book of genology research that followed the Vennables back to the court of King Alfred, supposedly. It's loss was a family topic of conversation amoung the older generation, now gone. So Scotch-Irish (which is the traditional term, really Protestant North Irish) and German and english. Typical KY pioneer folk.

same with NC lol. i imagine about every other state on the eastern shore line. most spread out to spread their religion and or to escape more religious persecution.

Carrera50, Kiwi's where I come from are white (Euro) New Zealanders, is this what you are living in the US? or are Kiwi's a native American tribe? Native New Zealanders are Maori's.

99.5% Norwegian/Scandihooligan, my mom said I bled out the little German in us by the time I was 2 (nosebleeder and farm boy- lots of blood letting! I'm always interested in how people answer due to how changes in "homeland" go through the years. I know my fathers side much more fully than my mothers though, so who knows how many trace elements of other groups are in me.

My ancestors may have been Scottish/Irish but I consider myself 100% Aussie, most of us colonials probably do.

Old folks in my family have always told me we are predominantly Scottish and Dutch. However, I found a site with origins of immigrants' family names, and most of the Hammonds' came from Scandinavian countries, with a small percentage from England. I know there's a little Creek Indian in there somewhere, also. Maybe the Scandinavian link explains the height thing (6'8") though.

One interesting thing about my dad's direct line is that no one ever sems to die of cancer. Instead, we all tend to keel over clutching our chests.
