Stumbled across an Etsy shop GamsjagaMesser apparently based in Germany, selling cheap traditional 'handmade' German style knives plus the usual weird folders, Damascus everything, weird designs, a real hodge podge but good value if true. I was searching for traditional nicker messers

A few designs reminded me of Pakistan imports but maybe wrong. Has anyone bought from them?

Link removed, read the site rules.

Here is the knife that drew me to them

See above.

I have searched 'Gamsaga' couldn't find much.
They seem to make a point of claiming they use real damascus steel -- 'to the cutting edge to avoid mischief'. It does seem to be a German seller. I know you can occasionally find quite cheap handmade knives on etsy but tend to be poor but honest quality. These look a cut above even if some of the designs raised my suspicions. What they call 'drove mann' knives seem pretty decent although not very sharp looking, more decorative tbh. Others seem to be standard forged blacksmith fare at fair price if carbon steel.

Just thought I'd start a thread for any info
Hope I'm not slandering a genuine small German blacksmith

Update: did an image search and found same blade offered on German Amazon

I have no inside or first-hand knowledge, but those folders look like a lot of other cheap knives made in Pakistan and passed off as handmade works of art on various sites.

If your concerned enough to start a thread here about them, that's your "gut" feeling telling you something doesn't seem right. There's red flags all over the place. Personally, I would avoid

If that isn't Pakistani made....I'll eat my hat.

That doesn't HAVE to say anything about the quality. Sadly however it often does.
