Eugene Shadley Knives

It was a Shadley slipjoint that started my trip down the custom slipjoint path.
Wonder what pattern it might be?

Beautiful Bill.

We have something in common. A Dr. knife by Gene was my first traditional custom also. :)

Hey, how come I didn't get a doctor's knife? My first custom traditional was a small saddlehorn trapper by Wally Watts.
(Gus, do you remember that one with the candy apple red smooth bone? Seems like so long ago now.)

Yup, I fully remember that red letter day, as well as Kit's knife in bone. You could hear that sucking sound (of you being drug into the traditional arena all across the Blade show floor.) I'll take most of the blame though along with your retirement :D. As far as a doctor knife, na way to dainty for you at the time. ;).

Campbell,
Yup, and at the same time I have been mourning for years, it seems that finding decent black lip at a usable size has become quite a challenge.

As far as Gene, Elliott and I are just kidding. I have spent many an appreciative hour with Gene walking around together at shows and he taught me a lot.
