That's ATS-34,and this knife has no half stops, but opens so smooth with really even spring tension..You can see why a Shadley is a Shadley. He does a masterful job,the pins and shield are set in the bone perfectly. This is a beauty, for sure.
Blades are thin & flat ground, swedges on both
Now,I'm just trying to visualize what it would look like and how it would hold up,after a good days work.I don't know ?? Whatta ya think ??

Well, what I was getting at,and not trying to be a wiseguy....
Is a knife like this made to be used,or is it a collection thing ? Here we go again, right? The "To carry,or Not to Carry" saga.

I'm a bad one to ask. I am not a "collector". Every knife I buy I buy with the intention of using. If I get one and It's not quite right, I sell it and save for another. You I believe have two of my old Charles May knives. Not that there is anything wrong with the craftsmanship. Charles is top shelf IMHO, but just not quite what I wanted.

At any rate, I buy them to use. I plan on using my Ken Erickson two blade jack when I receive it in December/January.

My .02;)

Yes,I totally understand and agree.
Common sense,would be,for us carry guys,carry it,use it,don't abuse it

If it passed the James Culpepper skip test it's ready for using. Great pickup.

Mike, third picture down,in the slit, whoops,I meant trough (cut that BoseHo stuff out now VCM3),see the pocket lint? Wonder how that got there??

This is a pretty cool pattern, too, after all, those 2 blades work well together on the same knife, useful configuration

Nice knife, Vince. From the pic it looks like he used some of the old Utica bone on that one.

That's a beauty Vince. I'd carry and use it if it were mine.

Don't mean to high jack the thread but is the Utica bone called that because of the Utica Cutlery Co, in Utica, NY?

Enjoy the Shadley!

Gary

Forgot to mention, Vince, that the pattern appears to be a cross between a swell center regular jack and a premium jack.
