At the 2009 Blade Show I had the honor of meeting and befriending Rick Menefee, who in addition to being an up and coming maker is a fine gentleman as well.
I was very pleased to take possession of one of his dogleg patterns right after the show and it has become a real favorite. (The dogleg pattern in both its single and double blade incarnations is one of my favorite patterns for its sinuous good looks and functionality.)
Fast forward a bit and I got the idea that Rick might really enjoy the Eureka Jack pattern (another of my favorites) and called him to ask if he was familiar with it.
Rick said he didn't know the pattern so I sent him some links to knives built by the gentlemen from Wilfred Works and asked him if he'd consider asking Tony Bose for the pattern.
The wrinkle (in my case) was that I wanted Rick to fit a modified wharncliffe blade to the frame rather than the more traditional spear blade.
Today, after anxiously awaiting its arrival for some time, the knife finally made its way to my mailbox.
This is Rick's first attempt at a Eureka Jack and he told me on the phone that he just loves the pattern and it just might be his new favorite. In fact, I had to coax him to send me this one and not keep it for himself.

Some stats:
Eureka Jack
3.75" closed
2.25 ounces
154 CM (cryo treated) @ ~ 60 Rc (Scalpel Sharp!)
Titanium Pivot Pin
Ivory Micarta Scales (with nice grain)
Pinned "Bollocks" Shield
So, without further ado, here are some images I was able to grab right before sundown (and the impending ice storm)...
For those of you looking for an excellent maker offering handsome and practical knives meant to be used, you'd do well to contact Rick via email or PM.
