European Knives and 440A Steel - Why?

You've got people that think super steels are a conspiracy to take people money, then you got people that think 440 or anything not powdered is garbage.

It's important to understand that neither of those ways of thought are true.

If a custom maker know his stuff with heat treatment and geometry and the design and Craftsmanship is top shelf I'd have no problems rocking a 440a knife

Geometry cuts

Problem is though there is an ocean of garbage knives in that steel that have ruined it's reputation.

Not saying 440a is amazing but you'd be surprised how much a knifes performance is in the design, geometry, and heat treatment rather then just the steel.

CPM 154 is some good stuff

I agree with your comments about 440A. CPM 154 is my preferred steel for regular carry knives. Like M390 too.

440??has also developed a bit of a bad name because of :poop: knives from China that are just marked 440.... Which isn’t a real designation of a steel and that means it’s some kind of lesser :poop: steel...

I was just writing 440 so I didn't have to write out 440a, 440b, 440c
