With the expensive Euro (or cheap dollar) I guess it's a good time for USA makers to try those shows in Europe. Anybody planning to attend? I'm thinking about the big shows like Paris, France (which I visit every year) or Milano, Italy.
A table at SICAC is very expensive and the guys I saw there are selling much more expensive stuff than I make...lol. I am probably going to do the Gembloux show this fall.
I think Sicac was 450-500 Euros. It was in the same price range as the New York show. Gembloux is 120 Euros for makers that are not members of the BKS. Members pay 90.
I know one maker that goes to both of these shows and loves them, he says he does very well there. Maybe I'll make good enough knives to sell at a show, one day
I've been to Gembloux.
It is a very friendly show with a high standard of work.
Holland also had it's first show last fall. It was a big succes and the next one(s) will be bigger and held at larger places.
It's called DKE. http://www.dkeshow.nl/impressies 2007.html
Solingen also is supposed to be a good knife show. It is held where there also is a large knife-museum. So a visit can be combined.
But I have not been there myself yet.
With the current $-€ rate it can be very worth wile for $-people to sell in Europe.
