Even heat Oven problem

Started to HT a batch this morning and my Evenheat keeps pooping out. I set the program just like I always do, you can hear the relay inside click and the oven goes on. It starts to ramp up and then about 30 seconds later, the relay clicks off. I have tried stopping it, resetting the program and starting again. Same thing happens.

Normally I can deal with this stuff OK but I have a show in two weeks and still have many knives to finish.

Anyone ever run into this?

Thanks

Check your breakers and make sure one of them has not tripped. You should have two 110 breakers on that 220 line.

Hey Cigar,

I had the same thing happen to me with my Evenheat about 4 months ago. I called the folks there and a lady named Barbara sent me an email with an attached document showing how to re-program my kiln...it worked like a champ. I tried to copy and paste here and could not get it to work. If you want to shoot me an email I will be more than glad to forward it to you so you can get yours working again...very easy to do....not complicated at all.

Shoot me an email at godogs57@bellsouth.net and I will get it to ya.

Hank

Cigar,

I finally got it to copy and paste...here is the trick to getting your Evenheat Kiln to behave. You can thank me later.

Hank

21. If any data is incorrect renter correct data at that time and press Enter until display flashes off and on.
22. IF all data is correct, Press Cone Key Twice to exit OEM.
23. The display should now read the current temperature in kiln. You can now program board for a firing as you would do normally. Run a test Fire.
24. If the display continues to read Err2 the computer board or chip may need to be replaced.
The Err2 message is usually associated with electrical noise. That is voltage spikes, high frequency interference, etc. This noise can have the effect of scrambling the internal program, as may have happened here. By reprogramming the OEM we attempt to unscramble the data and “reboot” the program. We also use these instructions to change the internal programming in the event that someone accidentally got into the OEM program and changed the programming numbers.

Hank,

I sent you an email before I saw this post. I'll give it a try and let you know how it works.

Thanks again.

Bill

Oh Well....my oven serial# is in the 88,000's. Your instructions also refer to a CONE key. My Set Pro does not have a CONE Key. I will give them a call on Monday to see if they have alternate instructions.

Karl,
I checked the breakers and both were on. Good call though. I never would have thought of that.

Cigar,

Here is the email address of the lady that was able to help me:

barbarab@evenheat-kiln.com

One thing you CAN do to help you is do the first two steps of the procedure shown above. Turn it off, then turn back on WHILE holding down the "select" button...a lot of times it will get it to behave without having to do the whole re-programming bit. That trick worked in emergency situations, but eventually I had to re-program from start to finish per her email. I am sure they have similar re-programing steps for other models as well.Good luck!
Hank

Is there any adjustable switch that changes the sensitivity for turning off the elements when the door is opened? If so, they may be set too loose and the oven "thinks" your door is open when it is actually closed.

I appreciate all the help suggestions. I tried a bunch of things and finally got it going. My controller allows you to set up to 4 user settings. I programmed it for User 3 and it seemed to work fine. User 1 still does not work. Looks like it just needs to be reset.

Once again......thank you all for your assistance.
