Several months ago I saw Mace at a show and he looked over my knives and encouraged me to do more of my own grinding. So I have been playing with my files and my 1 X 42 and 4 X 36 grinders and I have burned myself and ground off my fingerprints and even managed to fashion a few hunks of steel
that look like knives. So...I decided it was time to get serious and get a real grinder. There was a nice used KMG on the forum but I was not quick enough. I tried to talk myself into other machines but kept reading all the posts from you guys so I just broke down and called Ohio. This weekend I cleaned and reorganized the shop and installed a new dust collection system (new bucket of water). So now I wait....Rob said the machine would ship this week. Just like Christmas eve when I was a kid...time is standing still!!!

Congrats. I guess I'm the one that was slightly quicker than you were on the used one. But hey, I just got it last Friday (finally), so you didn't wait much longer than I did.

I love the grinder all ready. I called Pops today and ordered a bunch of new belts. He was great to deal with. Very informative and helpful. His prices are also very reasonable too. I highly recommend Pops.

Hi Ickie, Yep, you are the one that beat me! I'm glad you are enjoying the machine. Now we are both going to be happy. Based on forum reviews, I have already called Pops and ordered belts and you are right... good service and good prices. We are truly blessed to have a hobby that blends cool tools, beautiful materials, engineering, art and great people!

Hi Kevin,
You will find that the end product is worth the burnt fingers. Will you be making folders or fix blades?
Congrats!!!

Hi Dave,
Welcome back from Alaska, hope you had a great trip. I'm gonna stick with fixed blades to start. From what I have read on the forum, I won't progress to folders until the blisters on my fingers turn into calluses.

Kevin,
Can't wait to see "your" new blades/knives!:D
Good luck with the new machine.

When I get bored of filing I will have to invest in a grinder. Congratulations on your grinder!
