The tip on the new Commander is kind of an experiment. We wanted to improve it's penetration capabilities. If there have been any concerns about the Commander, it has been that the knife is more of a slasher than a stabber.

The new grind should increase the penetration capabilites of the knife. Some people have voiced the same concerns that you are. Was the blade mis-ground and passed on anyway. Well, the answer is no. I can't say that this is the way that all Commanders will be ground from this day forward for all eternity. But for now this is the way.
