eVent outer layer?

I would give eVent a bit more time to sort out the bugs. Many are unvented with the claim that it is not needed. Feedback from customers is proving otherwise. EVent still needs venting. I have found with GoreTex that there is a significant difference between companies. The latest Arcteryx I aquired a year ago, which is light weight, has been used in down pours accompanied with high winds, and has been perfect.

^ I agree that the manufacturers using eVent should get some venting options going- there is no laminate out today that can completely keep up w/ demands of someone on the move

eVent has been around since at least 2003.

eVent is a fabric. Design issues, such as use of vents is an issue for the garment manufacturer.

Vents would improve heat and moisture management.

Any garment that protects from wind will interfere with ventilation. No free lunch.

The OP concerned eVent in it's use as a garment, so my reply was directed towards responding to garments, not the fabric. The common complaint about unvented eVent garments is not about heat management but rather moisture build-up within the jacket. I know several people using eVent, and every one of them has the same complaint. One of the marketing statements made concerning eVent is that venting is not required due to the fabrics ability to disapate internal moisture. This has proven to be untrue. Now, if only eVent would include a free lunch (with beer) I might be swayed.

My Lowe in eVent has chest vents.

Gore offered Lowe a big discount to switch back to Gore products. Correctly relying on ignorance regarding the relative performance of the "name brand," Lowe stopped using eVent and went back to Gore.

Just a heads up: Integral Designs, once a Canadian company based in Calgary, with everything made right here in Calgary, was bought by the parent company of Rab. I believe it's based in Colorado. They're moving production from Calgary this year (or already have). Don't know where to. Maybe China? I've emailed them to find out.

EDIT: The new owners of Integral Designs confirmed to me that all their gear will now be made in China. BIG thumbs down.
