Eventful day...

A breakup can be world shattering...... But a great job and new toy, all at once..... Things are looooking up dude!!!

I know. I kinda feel like it's better this way. The relationship wasn't working anyway, and now I'm single I can concentrate on my own life and get to where I want to be.

Been a good while since I was dumped... ;) But as bad as it felt at the time I can honestly say it was possibly the best thing that ever happened to me... :D :D Take it as a sign or starting point to move forward, think hard about the reasons she did so (if it was about "you" it is worth thinking on a bit - once the emotions subside) and use it as a starting point. also look for something amusing in it, hard I know but you will find it, I still laugh when I see my ex's boyfriend (now husband) back in the small town I (we) grew up in, if he sees me in a pub he goes home, if he sees me in the street he will cross to the other side... all fear.... irrational fear on his part (no honestly.... how could someone be afraid of me... :) ) But the best part is.... THIS IS 20 YEARS LATER.... :D :D I mean does he not think that if he were in ANY danger (he never was but perception is can be a curse) most rational people would have figured out that it had passed now....I just take great amounts amusement out of it all now.... ;)

Well, not only is he your ex's husband but it's natural to be afraid of someone who's packin' INFI!! :D

LOL.... back then I had never heard of INFI... silly guy just listened to the "stories" about me and got all worried, I just can't believe he is STILL worried... ;)

Andy is spot on when he mentions the "was it about you" part. It's amazing how often we place the burden of a breakup upon ourselves, when it's often on the other person. We question ourselves. What did I do wrong, or what terrible personality trait that I have that caused this breakup..... We torture ourselves, when it simply is a question of the other changing or wanting something different.... Doesn't necessarily mean that something is wrong with us. It isn't always about "me". The other isn't always "evil" either.

There is nothing more fragile than love. Nothing that you have the least control over.

Oh, Andy! ... Next time you see your exe's new hubby in a Pub. Perhaps you should just shout him over and buy him a pint?

..enough of the touchy feely stuff..... Let's drink!!;)

That is exactly the best outlook for that situation. There should ALWAYS be time for self reflection. Your TGLB will make you feel a lot better :D

In the UK... none for a fixed blade knife, maybe daggers are an issue though. Like here, you can't carry them in public however.

Yeah, pretty much the same here...likely to get you in trouble. The dagger itself isn't illegal in Canada but if you use it in a self defense role, the police would probably accuse you of carrying a concealed weapon. If you carried it openly you'd get cited for carrying a blade in public without a legitimate reason (municipal bylaw, a ticket and knife seized).

What kind of hoops do you need to jump through to own such knives in GB?

In a nutshell, it's illegal to sell knives (or import them) if they are:

1. Designed specifically to look like something else and be concealable in that design (e.g. a walking stick sword/comb knife)
2. Designed for no legitimate purpose other than use as an offensive weapon (push daggers, knuckle duster knives, stiletto daggers e.t.c. The Argonne assualt would also no doubt fit this catagory)
3. Any knife that opens/reveals it's blade by way of an actuated mechanism (flick, automatic, or gravity knives including balisongs)

It is not Illegal to buy or own these knives however, as they are often old and are collected as legitimate antiques, or they are kept by museums, etc.

It is, however, illegal to carry or use in a public place ANY bladed object with a cutting edge exceeding 7 centimetres (3 inches) without a legitimate reason for doing so. In fact, even if the blade is less than 7 centimetres long, it may still be considered an offensive weapon depending on use/context etc. Where knives specifically are concerned, NO fixed blade or folding knives that lock in the open position can be carried even if the blade is less than 7 centimetres long. What that effectively means is that the only knife you can carry in public and not risk arrest is a Swiss army knife or similar.

So for me, if i'm driving in the car and the police stop me, and for some reason happen to search the car and find my TGLB in the boot, I better be able to prove I am on my way to a camping trip or something, or I will be arrested immediately. Same goes for if I carried it in a backpack while out shopping in town. And forget about actually wearing it on your belt while doing ANYTHING other than what it is immediately required for.

But if a copper walked up to me in the woods while I was practising some bushcraft or something with it, he would just be like, 'wow, that's a lovely knife. Enjoy your camping trip.'

British cops are weird.

Anyway, shipping update: I got an email from USPS that my TGLB has cleared customs...won't be long now!!!
