Ever been disapointed in a new knife

most uncomfortable handle i've ever come across. other than that it was a good quality blade just some serious design flaws

I was very disappointed in my last purchase.
I ordered a Benchmade 773, sight unseen, off
the Internet via a Benchmade distributor.
My order was efficiently handled and the knife arrived.
It was my first Benchmade with the acclaimed Axis lock.
Now I have subsequently learned that the Axis lock is smaller and a little different in this small folder.

The overall workmanship was fantastic all except that damn lock.
I fumed over it fro a week and then tore it all apart to fix to my satisfaction.

Basically the 2 Omega springs were far too strong and the lock release was way too stiff.
A small adjustment and I am now happy as can be.

Camillus Cuda MAXX 5.5

It just didn't "do" it for me. Not sure why - there is nothing wrong with the knife. And I like BIG knives. But this one, I just couldn't bond with.

Yes I know what you mean I bought a Camillus can't remeber the model off hand sent via mail so I never got to actually examin it before purchasing. Towards the tip on one side the grind took a different angle the knife was still sharp but as you move it he gleen off the blade will tellthe story.

I like the little notch at the base of a blade. It means I can sharpen right up to the base without running into the choil and putting undue pressure on some other part of the edge, or grinding away at the choil.

Both the large and small Buck Alpha have these notches, BUT THEY'RE ORNAMENTAL -- NOT FUNCTIONAL! That is, the edge gets almost as thick as the choil before it hits this notch.

Now I have to live with it, or try to figure out how to reprofile the blades without a proper grinder.

Bummer.

I've been pretty lucky, never had one so bad I had to send it back. When I got my 806D2 I found that the grinds were just a little off, so that if you looked straight at the point you could see it veered to the left just a bit. Bummed me out for a couple of days until I realized it was an just a small thing. The knife works great so I kept it.

In response to Roadrunner, one mans "poorly balanced" is another mans "perfectly balanced." I own and have handled both khukuris and a number of Busses, and find the Busses quite well balanced. Personal preference and anticipated job for the blade probably play more on the perception than actual fact.

Camillus remade the paratrooper knife push button auto, but mine had a weak action and didn't lock open half of the time. I still have it. It is fortunes way of protecting me I suppose. This way I won't carry it and won't get into trouble with the law in my local.

Becker Necker. Great blade, lousy handle for my hand. I think that my fingers are just too thick.

crkt kasper pro. love the handle, hate the blade. doesn't hold an edge the way I'm used to.

spyderco military. like the design and the blade but the pivot pin thing is unacceptable on a knife that is over 100$. the blade on mine lays hard against the inside liner (out of the box) and has been a pain to adjust. from what I see on the forums this is not uncommon.
