Ever bid on something...

LOL...

So...they glow blue when orcs are near?! :p

From what I gather, these knives were designed for an elite team of black ops ninjas doing things which can not be said, the knife was hand forged by extra secret blacksmiths in the heart of Mordor. After the forging of the knives, the smiths were killed and buried, then the men who killed them were killed and buried. When all the ultra secret ninjas had their super secret knives, the extra knives were then sold under the stipulation that they never see the light of day, because if the enemy ninjas find out the design of the blade, the good ninja clan is doomed.

I've done similar things.

It's just ebay. Back out of the deal and accept your negative feedback. No big deal really.

Negative feedback is easier to swallow than 700 bucks for a knife you don't want and might have trouble selling.

OMG!!! There's that word that should never be spoken here, the word that will bring down a storm of fire and fury. Tell Jerry that double malt is better than single malt! Tell Amy that PBR is better than Coors!! Tell Garth that he can't grind a knife as nice as they do at Dark Ops!!! But never, ever, ever even think about that word.

EVER!!!

.
:p

I know, less caffeine, more INFI. ;)

I honestly figured someone like knife hunter, or lil'foo, or Jaxx or someone of that HOG caliber would have snatched that up. What are you guys sleepin?! Watchin the Pats get creamed?! Com'on!!

Not me, not on that! :p Sorry, but although I see the serious potential of that knife for what it was designed for, I just didn't want to go after it. Also, considering the cash I put out on the BP SAR-8's, an inbound BM-e, and the freakin' expensive tankful of home heating oil, I really didn't need to chase it. Hey, consider yourself lucky...I was once offered a SOUL-1 for considerably more dough over 3 years ago, and I would have had to make the purchase sight unseen and since it was a sale cleared by Jerry, I would have been bound by the same agreement as the original owner. Now, it's one thing to buy a knife from the BOSS sight unseen (for much less), but another to abide by the same conditions and blindly commit for a way higher secondary market price...so I convinced a HOG to send me a pic to see what I would be getting. Once I saw it, I immediately declined. At least you knew exactly what you were going after...and hey, it's a HOG SOUL. ;)

But yes, I've bid on something only once that I didn't really intend to win, and it was the BF.COM Support Auction SH-v back in November...

I was trying to stimulate bidding on it, and I'll freely admit this since it was listed for a good cause...our beloved Forum. :) I threw one bid in with a little slack for proxy bidding, and apparently, there was only minimal last-minute bidding on it, because my highest bid was still high enough by a mere $1.27. I was so sure that I'd be outbid that I completely forgot all about it until I received the winning bidder notice from eBay! Of course I did make sure that I had the funds available because that's the risk ya take, LOL... And to be completely honest, I'm glad that I won it, because it's better looking in person and feels great in the hand! ...But I can honestly say that I didn't bid to win on that one. :)

Or it's just another knife variant, like any other, that for one reason or another, has been deemed secret. I think it's all silly, but I don't make the rules, and if an agreement was made, I think it should be kept.

:thumbup::thumbup::D

I've found occasional things about the way stuff is done around here that's goofy and sometimes ridiculous, but have come to realize it's just par for the course around here. I might not "get" it, but I don't see anything wrong with it so it doesn't bother me either. Folks have a choice whether they want to enter into those agreements or not, and if they choose to do so that's their business. I personally have no desire to own any of the top secret stuff, and I leave it to those who are interested in that sort of thing.

Much like when I saw the folder come up for sale, this knife underwhelmed me as well. It's just a knife. Nothing wrong with it being just a knife, but I'm not gonna buy something with a lifetime of secrecy attached to it for just a knife.

The Test Team stuff, and the BOSS Street protos were one thing, as I knew there was an expiration date to the cone of silence, but I'd be really unlikely to buy something that I knew I could never ever talk about. And I'm even shying away from the TT and proto stuff... for now, until I see something else cool I want. ;)

The bottom line is, Jerry makes sweet, sweet knives. And as long as he continues to do that, I will buy them, and beat on them. I just might not buy *ALL* of them. Unlike some people ;)

Hmmm... A deal is still a deal. Don't want it? Don't Bid. Sorry, Grimspoon, but that's not a very cool piece of advice. :thumbdn:

I am gonna lock this down because of the "item" in question....

If Jerry or any other Mods want to unlock it that is fine but my gut is saying....It might be best:)
