Ever Bought A Cheapo Knife, No Name Brand, Imitation etc. That You Absolutely Loved?

Enlan IS a brand, and they make really good bang-for-the-buck folders. Let's try to avoid the SRM family drama that is sure to follow, shall we?

Never owned a knife in 40 years that was unbranded. Not one. Anything with China printed on it seems to cause drama here for some reason.

bought a knife marked "best defense 440" years ago, it was a sub-hilt type knife with rubberized handles... i ran around the woods for most of my pre-teen years playing Rambo and it never once let me down. absolutlely loved it.

A long time ago I bought a folding tanto knife while on vacation and after digging it out a few days ago I noticed it is aus8a steel and the lockup is rock solid I think I remember paying no more than twenty bucks for it

I remember my first knife was some no name "survival" SAK style knife when I was about 7. I remeber going to the Dollar General and my mom said she was getting some stuff and I begged her for a knife. She came out with that and I probably carried that thing for a year before stealing a knife from my step dads drawer(; that's how the addiction began. I think she payed a dollar for it. No brand. Oh the memories(:

I got a couple of lockbacks from Target back around 1984. The only thing on them was "Stainless" on one side and USA on the other. I actually got two, one just to throw in my archery tackle box and a second for my truck glove box. They kept such an edge that a few weeks later I went back to get some for Christmas presents and they were out of stock and never came back.

I still have them some where.

A mtech rescue folder. This thing locks up solid blade centering is perfect and just feels solid in my hand. Bought it before I really knew about knives.

Can't say that I have ever bought a no name cheap knife, the closest thing to no name cheap is the Imperials or Colonials I've bought.

I loved them all and they were all marked either USA or Made in the USA, I think I have one or two that say Ireland. ;)

got a 5 buck special from the flea market as a kid..scary sharp....had to hide it from my parents....sold it after i scared the poo out of myself by dropping it on my pillows and it did'nt stop stabbing till it hit my mattress...

My dad bought me a folder from a traveling salesman who came by his workshop .
No real brand I could ever find , but a few years after there were tons of " tiger knives" that were seriously crappy versions of the one I had
It came with a seriously scary sharp edge .. it whittled hair . I used that as my main knife for years as panel beater / spray painter / mechanics gopher .. it hit springs in radiator hoses , it cut windscreens out of cars , used for cutting engine and transmission mount rubbers , shoved thru more tyre sidewalls than I care to count ( tyres not good enough to be retreaded were knifed and sent to disposal )
Up til the day it was confiscated by a cop at a breathalyser stop , it was a dam good knife .

I have had a few "pakistan" knives .. the only marking is their place of origin , they have been all suprisingly good .

I was the family butcher since as far back as I was able to kill and dress an animal solo , and when I would find a knife that would hold an edge thru skinning a sheep that had been thru a sand storm , Id keep that knife as a prized possession . I dont recall ever finding a brand name knife that would do that , but several unbranded cheapies would .

I once bought a folder on eBay when I was 15. It was a folding trench knife with an Americanized tanto blade. It was $8, so I said "Why not?". The blade was stamped "China knife- Steel Surgery" and the aluminum handle boldly stated "US 1917". It locked up pretty solid, came really sharp (surpristingly), and was my edc for a year before I tossed it aside for a Cold Steel.

The only markings on the box were a string of numbers, China, and "Razor Knife". The box sported a photo of the Terminator in front of a flaming background.

Any knife with the Terminator and a flaming background just has to be good... :D
