Ever bought a knife without planning to?

Guilty here as well.... Just picked this up off the exchange, had no intention of buying another big knife but this thing is beautiful and at price I couldn't say no to.

Yes ive bought a number of knives that came totally out of left field,and its mostly the fault of the others on these forums, posting cool pictures of knives i might not of thought about initially.
 
Off the cuff, this has to account for at least a quarter of my collection. And like others, I blame this place and all the pretty photos. :D
 
some of my knives sat in shopping carts for weeks before pulling the trigger, and sometimes they sold out before i was able to make the move, others have more money i guess, or just more brave?
i got a protech strider sng sterile black operator on a whim that there was no need for, but i saw the quantity drop from 5 to 3 in half a day so im like " guess im spending 300 dollars today" it was later sold out during the course of that weekend
 
Bought a Buck Marksman in a whim simply because I saw a video of one and liked the orange scales and was bored. Knew it was not for me on the first open.

There is a mental list of "wants" I have no plans for but if one pops up I will buy it and if a keeper then sell something else to cover it. I have a few "meh" but still desirable knives saved just for this reason.
 
Yeah, especially when "friends" tag me in knife sales that I missed the first time around;)

I think we probably plan to buy stuff that we think we need, but stuff we buy on a whim is what we really want deep down.
 
Have I ever bought a knife I wasn't planning on buying? Of course..... I love impulse buys as they make it fun.

Added: Generally speaking if I think about a possible knife purchase for too long, I generally end up not buying the knife simply because I don't need the knife and more rational thought takes over. Do I want to spend the money? Do I need it? What makes it better than what I already own? Will I use it?

After I bought a Fallkniven F1 for a very decent price, I was browsing the Walmart web site and happened to look at the current prices. I wasn't planning to buy another. They had one real deal and I ended up buying 5 more, for $20 each! They were "sold and shipped by" Walmart and they are not fakes. One was in a older box, a couple had a wrinkle or two on the box.
