Well?

I succumbed to the cuteness factor of the CRKT Ashworth Turtle and pre-ordered one and it arrived today. I had seen the original Boyd Ashworth when it first hit the blade world but I found it tough to even consider 800.00 for a piece of jewelry so I was happy to find out CRKT would be making them. It came complete with a second scale to replace the clip on the back if so desired and also has a fold away bail for a necklace. The blade flips out very easily do to the striations on the "leg" and locks via a frame lock. The blade btw is hair poppin' sharp. I still haven't decided what will become of this little cutie...perhaps a gift for either my daughter or my gf...or it may find it's way into my pocket...will figure that out after I play with it some more. :D

I love it. Thanks for the post. Could you call that a 'tur-tical' knife? It definitely should have been in the 'perfect sheeple knife' thread. Seriously I will probably buy one of those. Thank you for the post, Absintheur.

A big yes. Bought one of Koji Hara 'eggplant' folder, but ended up giving it to girl friend. The folder looks like an eggplant when closed (complete with the purple color from MOP handle slabs). Very cute.

Not yet. Beard is white but mind is yet not gone.
The only cuties I look at are with the pirates.

First knife I ever bought my wife was a Kershaw Whiskey Gap.

I had taken her to the cutlery store to buy her a copy of my Gerber Silver Knight (which she seemed to borrow regularly), but it was out of stock, and then out of production.

Nearest thing in size and shape on the shelf was the little Whiskey Gap. Cute. Rosewood. Let's see that one. Well, heck, would you look at the edge on that puppy. So I bought it for her.

First thing she ever did with it was cut herself.

She still has it. And she still borrows whatever I'm carrying.

Oh, and BTW, I finally found a Whiskey Gap of my own.
:D

Buy "cute"? All the time! If the 'cuteness' wears off for me, I have a nice little gift I can pass on to someone knife-challenged.

(Are you old enough to remember the "Real men don't eat quiche!" era? My immediate response to that bit of drivel was always: "Real men eat whatever the f**k they want.")

my wife collected 2" autos, like from GT knives (expensive little things), she also had a couple of kershaw chives, stuff like that,k she thought they were cute, also liked smaller versions of whatever i was carrying, mini SOCOM elite, mini CRKT M16 carbon fibre handle, mini BM stryker, mini AFCK, mini EKI CQC7, mini commander, i suppose we were the bobsie twins lol.

I will be 50 next year so yes, I do remember that era.

I do consider looks when buying knives but I also think utility first....till now. I bought the turtle based on looks first, figured I would find a way to utilize it later. I have a very nice sterling and scrimshawed ivory money clip as well as a CRTK K.I.S.S. that works as one as well. I don't wear a necklace so that leaves just the pocket knife aspect. Would make for a nice watch fob tho.....mmmmm

Cute? No, but a knife does have to move me in some way. If I don't like the looks of it, I won't buy it. Then it has to be quaility. Both in blade steel and handle material. Fit and finish too.

I probably wouldn't buy a turtle.

Because I thought they cute, I bought:

Spyderco Dodo, Caly3, Stretch II, Tasman Salt, Perrin Street Bowie, Superhawk (pending), and some pink Delicas and Enduras
Swamp Rat "Muddy": Howling Rat LM, Chopweiler, and M6
Busse Fusion Battle Mistress and Busse Muddy Fusion Battle Mistress
Ranger Knives RD-9 w/orange g-10 scales
Takeda 240AS gyuto
Sog Sculptura
Cold Steel Vaquero Grande
Benchmade 921 Switchback

That Turtle looks adorable, too!

CRTK make some cute stuff.

The Spectra Peck, that my, then, 14 year old loves.
She saw it and kept on saying "How cute, how cute"
It went on to her keyring!

The Rollock is cute/clever, ...sitting deep in a drawer somewhere...

Sorta-ish
My rainbow leek--but it is a user as well!
(besides getting the obvious woah that's so pretty looks from the galls )

I have one of the original Benchmark Rolox that is currently being refitted with some nice mammoth tooth scales.

I did buy my GF a Leek because she thought it was cute...she carries it everyday.
