Ever buy a knife because you wanted to try out a new knife steel.................

A few years ago I bought the Spyderco S30V Wal-Mart Native to try out the steel. The knife totally sold me on S30V and it became my my favorite steel for a folder .

+1

I bought the S30V Native at WalMart and a VG-10 Native somewhere else for the sole reason of comparing the steels in use. I bought the Spyderco Delica in ZDP-189 to see what all that fuss was about with that steel.

Come to think of it, I've bought LOTS of knives just to try out the steels....

I have bought knives several times for the sole reason that the blade steel was an alloy I had not tried.

Ditto to Boberama.

I was late but beginning to acquire Mule from Super Blue and just got myself the Cruwear.
Heck i even tried Obsidian!
S90V, CTS-XHP, Cowry-X, ZDP-189 are some of the steels i'm looking to get much much later.

Couldn't be happier to have a BG-42 coming my way.

Frequently. I bought a couple of 710's in M390, only to discover that I like ZDP-189 and S90V better. Such is life.
