I was romping around the other day, and the cramps said ''right now'' !!! Luckily I was in among trees and brush. I knew that I had no wipe but had little time to think about it, things were happening fast....damned dried Apricots ! Anyway, I grabbed handfuls of old dried leaves. Now those hard frozen leaves caught my attention I'll tell ya. Then as a finisher I grabbed up some crusty\chunky half frozen snow. WOW !! I was slammed tighter than a bank vault after that.
 :(
Man there has to be another option out there if a guy forgets the T.P. in the winter................... :D

Yes. More than one pair of tighty-whiteys has been donated to the cause. Pine cones are not a good substitute. Now, coreless hiker toiletpaper is in every bag and drybox. I can't find the mil-surp rolls anymore. And the Coghlans/Colemans/Ozark Trails stuff comes in slightly larger rolls (3-packs usually), a plus for those times when you just thought you were through.

I've cut the tops off a pair of sweat socks in such emergencies.

Eww yeah, moss works great in the summer, but winter is tough... a few soft snowballs are better than ice and crust though....

Told the warden about this one, and when she was done laughing she handed me one of those tiny tissue packs. You know, the kind that grannies always seem to have in their purse. Man this stuff is a must have in the winter ! :snowman:

Mite sound gross but i would have used my hand before using crusty snow lol

Personally I've always tried to watch the diet about 12 hrs before a long hike, or take a couple doses of Pepto before anything over 10 miles... and yes, sometimes no wipe is better than smearing it...try to pinch it clean or you're Fuc*^d..

Food for thought...rural golf courses suck too...I ruined a golf towel a couple years back...haha..probably 8-10 beers worth of carbonation by the 18th hole... Possibly TMI but funny (and true) nonetheless

How about just holding it?

Sometimes that works for day hikes. Multiple days, not so much. And rocket butt usually strikes when you least expect it. I think I set a record last year of twelve feet! The surrounding woodland creatures were not amused, I'd imagine! :p

I keep multiples of the little facial tissue packs in the pockets of all of my hiking jackets, packs, etc.
They're everywhere in my gear, useful for whatever appears at either end of my person, and make good tinder too.
