Ever forget your toilet paper on a hike ?

Yes. More than one pair of tighty-whiteys has been donated to the cause. Pine cones are not a good substitute. Now, coreless hiker toiletpaper is in every bag and drybox. I can't find the mil-surp rolls anymore. And the Coghlans/Colemans/Ozark Trails stuff comes in slightly larger rolls (3-packs usually), a plus for those times when you just thought you were through.

Only once & the tighty-whiteys were sacrificed.

I have used the tops of my cheap socks lol, parts of my tshirts. all kind of stuff. there is nothing like some toilet paper or a baby wipe lol

I have seen fire eating Marines squabble over a travel pack of baby wipes like it was a ticket to paradise! LOL!

Not having toilet paper and having to improvise is perhaps the most important "Bushcraft" skill. I'm sure Ray Mears has covered it at one point.

Sure have, and in the middle of the Anza Borrego. That's a really lost feeling. Ended up using hand and washing it. Cultural yuck factor or not, I was bummed.

I always have a small pack of wet wipes in my pack. They're great for cleaning up after your business and even washing up before dinner or even bed time, plus they're nice to use in order to freshen up in the morning.

Baby wipes, wet wipes, clorox wipes (maybe not for bathroom duty though). Have a small pack. It's like $1 for the 10 pack of wipes which is good for 2 days really.

After much field testing and trial & error, I have found that the neck of a goose is the best buttwipe there is. There are only two rules to this. !. Keep a tight grip on the goose's neck up towards the beak, and 2. always go with the grain of the feathers. Happy wiping to y'all.

Sure are a lot of tenderfoots around here... ;)

If I recall our forefathers and Native Americans didn't have Charmin...and they, like I, used natural materials, leaves, grass, etc. Mullin Leaves are especially soft and nice but some people have a reaction to them, fortunately I don't, but Maple leaves are handy because they're so large. I haven't used TP once I leave civilization since I was a kid..

Mullein works well where it is found, which is not everywhere. I would have to travel several counties over to find it. TP grows in the store just down the street. :)

Mullein leaves, maple leaves and the like are nice but one of the things mentioned by the OP was winter poops, well I have left the house more than once with a normal t shirt and came home with a sleeveless. I will say this, when you gotta go please have the manners to bury it and if you don't have the tools, at least move a rock or log, poop and then replace the rock or log. It makes me boiling mad when I see a big human turd laying beside the trail, campsite or stream. Chris

I always pack some baby wipes, but one day I was at an outdoor gun range, and the building closed at 5. The range was open to members after that, but no bathrooms. I had taco bell for lunch and I couldn't even shoot straight. Thank god TB gave us plenty of napkins. I guess it's kinda like the circle of life :)

was just about to say, my area has lots of moss year round. I'd say it's at least as soft as cheap toilet paper. Poke plants aren't so bad either.
