Ever found a knife?

I've not found a whole knife, but I did find fragments of a Cold Steel folder than some technician before me had lost inside the blade of a wind turbine. I found less than half of the knife overall, and the pieces were were worn smooth from tumbling back and forth along the interior of the blade (a distance of at least 40 meters) countless times.

I found a Kewshaw chive around two years ago following an outdoor music festival. It was dull, rusty, and scratched up. I restored it to a reasonable condition.

Nice find! I read a post about a guy who found a ZT0777. Man i'd love to be that guy:cool:

My unscientific theory regarding the high number of Kershaw Ken Onion series being lost & found is that the auto assist feature is accidently going off inside the owners pocket causing it to launch out of the pocket where those of us participating in this thread can later find it. Either that or there is a high number of careless Kershaw owners. ;)

Thats really cool actually. you should post some pics!

woah. That actually makes sense! you may very well be right. Or people just throw them away ;) haha jk

Found an orange Mora Clipper in the forest years and years ago. Worn but a simple sharpening job fixed it up real good, use it when instructing a newbie on how to use and care for a knife (seems fitting, right?). My theory is that the previous owner had it clipped to the outside of a pack and must have brushed a spruce or something.

My theory on the Ken Onion Kershaws...well, I always found the pocket clips on them high-riding, weak and quite useless.

As far as I can recall......I've only found Knives at "Yard Sales and Flea Markets". Some good deals but, I can't recall ever finding a "lost" knife.

EDIT: Oooh.....what am I talking about ? Man, it SUCKS getting older. About a year ago, I found (in a trash pile) an old Tool Box which contained an old broken
"Old Hickory" Butcher Knife. I suspect this Knife was at one time (at least) a twelve inch (if not a fourteen inch) Blade due to it's thickness. The Blade was "snapped" in two with about.....six or so inches of blade remaining. I knew I had a Diamond in the rough! I sent the knife to Jeremy Longmire in TN
(JKL Knives) and this is what Jeremy did with an old broken "Old Hickory" Carbon Butcher Knife :

That thing is awesome HARDBALL!!!

I had a buddy that found a kershaw blackout at a car wash in Illinois. He then lost it himself, irony...

I once found a SAK (don't know the model, it was a big one) on top of one of those chests of drawers at Home Depot (the ones the bolts and washers, etc are in). The main blade was open, like maybe someone had been using it to open boxes. I thought that maybe it might have belonged to an employee who put it there and forgot about it so I took it to the customer service counter, gave it to them and told them where I found it. Hopefully the owner got it back.

Another knife I found was a Buck Alpha Hunter folder (black rubber handles). I was riding to work when I passed something in the middle of the street that looked interesting. I did u-turn and it was a folder in a nylon web sheath. Stuck it in my saddlebag and went to work. At work I took it out to examine it, and although it had clearly been run over by a car, it still worked perfectly with no damage to any of the metal parts. The rubber handles had suffered some damage around the screws, and the snap on the sheath was wrecked, but other than that it was fine. A co-worker saw it and fell in love with it. So I told him that I would take it home and fix the handles and replace the snap. The next day when I gave him the knife he was like a kid on Christmas morning.

Thanks BB. I'm really proud to own this "what was once old is new again" Old Hickory (Kephart) Knife. Oooh, this knife is one of THE sharpest knives in my collection. Jeremy also made me a beautiful custom leather "dangler" sheath for this Kephart. I HIGHLY recommend JKL's work. In fact, I have another old Carbon Butcher Knife being re-handled, sharpened and new Leather Sheath by JKL soon to be finished. It's a vintage "Universal Hammer Forged" Butcher with a six or so inch blade. No doubt these two old Carbon Knives will become some of my favorite knives!

HARDBALL

I have found a few lower priced knives. I think the best one was a Case slipjoint (folder).

I don't count the knives and other sharp things that I have found in houses when I have cleaned them out. Found quite a few cheapie swords.... druggies seem to like them. They have all gone into the trash as I have no interest in junk like that.

I recall years ago working at a backcountry camp at Philmont. An adult scout came to the cabin and said he lost a Swiss Army Knife that just happened to have... get this... a wedding ring attached to it.
We helped him look everywhere for it, but it never showed up. Sucks for him, but why would someone carry something like that on a backpacking trip?

You bump into a knife or old axe head now and then while metal detecting. The new ones that I find are usually junk.

Found a Gerber Evo Mid tanto on the street a few years ago. Almost like new. I guess a jogger or cyclist dropped it.

Stropped it up a touch and still use it for a boot knife. It's a good little flipper.

I know this is an old thread but its cool so bump but I have found a gerber gator by the lake near my house but thats all
