Ever have something just disappear or vanish?

I lost $10,000 cash once.

I put it in a "safe place". But did not remember even doing that!

It was in a foreign country. The my roomates and I moved the furniture. Rolled back the carpet in the entire room, laid the money out and put it all back. 4 of us........took us a week to remember where we hid it!!!!!

I'm with Rob, but for different reasons... you went through ALL that EFFORT, 4 of you, and none of you remembered doing it?

Hmmm... which country? That might tell us what you were drinking.

Not that anything is wrong with drinking, mind you ;)

Just want to know where i can get some of what you had.

When I was 8 I bought my first "great" knife ... a Fairbairn Sykes commando knife ... got it when sports shops could sell to kids ... so 40 years ago ...

Took it to my grandparents who had my Aunt living with them who looked after them ... my Aunt ended up bringing me up like a second mum ... my parents passed away early ... my Aunt passed away in April this year ... aged 86 ... I looked after her and needed to sort the Estate out ... went in to sort out clothing and found my FS knife tucked away in a drawer ... I thought I had lost it as a child ... this knife has been missing 40 years ... must have been confiscated for whatever "good" reason ... funny how things can happen like that ...:)

Yep, I lost a folder in my safe for about two years. Took every thing out of my safe several times for months before I wrote it off for good.
One day I dropped a coin in my safe and it disappeared under the overhang where the door closes. I was feeling for the coin, and found the knife.

"Ever have something just disappear or vanish?" Yeah my nutz after I got married.

I was ready to say the same thing untill i read further down.

You beat me to it.
:>

Ditto on what "UffDa" said ~~ except I have 4 more operations to go through.!* Eh -- lifes a 'Blitz'!*

I just lost a pack of gum in my hotel room, spent about 30 mins looking for it. Still can't find it. I feel stupid for looking as long as I did after reading this thread. It's just a pack of gum!

I lost a few things as a child that weren't misplaced. Later in life when my dad's highschool ring disappeared, I figured it out. Older sibling decided to sell it....

It happens all the time, I put something down and then cannot find it. I have a rule for the TV remotes that they never leave the living room and it works well for the most part. Unfortunately that doesn work for anything else. Over the years I regularly have to purchase new hand tools like screwdrivers, and such to replace those that are lost.

.The best way to find something real fast is to first lose it, then drive down to the hardware store and buy a new one only to find the lost item after unpacking the new one. Sometimes its not screwdrivers but something more important and it can get tedious. For that reason when I use use my knife I return it to my belt as soon as I am done using it and that is nearly fail safe.

Lost my very first spyderco knife for over a year, not particularly valuable (in fact it has cost me a lot of money over the years as it really started me on this hobby), but I felt bad for losing it.

Finally found it on the frame under the seat of my weight lifting bench one day :p No idea why I would have put it there..
