Every now and then I have the urge to pull the 110 out of storage and put it on the belt. I don't know why, but I do. I was just thinking how i like the size and comfort of the 110, but the sheath is a pain in the butt.

I do, or at least I did, when I had one. I traded it to another member, and I have half-a-dozen old U.S. Schrade LB's that are my go-to knives for work around the place here. They're a little bigger & chunkier that the 110, and my first lockback was a U.S. Schrade back in the early 80's, so it's more of a sentimental thing for me. If I lost all my tactical pocket-clipped knives, and just had my old LB's, I'd still be happy.

Yup, but I've damaged more furniture & countertops, and bent more clips by snagging them on things, than I ever did with a sheath. I'm almost to the point of not carrying a clipped knife most days.

Hi SuzukiGS750EZ -

I used to wear a 110 all the time - but sadly I lost that knife years ago.

The new one that I have has a nylon sheath that I do not like, I would probably wear the knife out occasionally if it had an old-school leather sheath.

I do love the old 110 a lot though....

best regards -

Yes every once in a while I carry it. Very rarely but I have a dozen or so of them so I feel they need some pocket or pouch love at least once a year.

I have a newer 110, but it has the leather sheath. I've seen/felt the nylon one my friend has, not to impressed with it.

Not to get off topic but I scratched my stock on a brand new Browning Citori Trap gun on my Sebenza clip. Luckily it was small and a little stain and varnish made it almost disappear. I was mortified when I first saw it though. Now I carry a knife on a sheath when shooting trap. I don't have a 110 but I have an Schrade Uncle Henry that is my oldest knife which I love.

I have both sheaths, but while I prefer the leather one for sentimental reasons -- leather just seems to suit the 110 -- I find myself using the nylon one more often as it is less bulky, and can also be carried horizontally.

I carried the 110 in leather sheath for a couple of years on my belt until I lost it to the La Habana airport guards. Bastards. (OK trying to board a plane with a buck on your belt after 9-11 is sort of makes it your own fault, even if it were the commie mojitos that made me forget the knife)
So somewhat later I bought a replacement, but sadly for the 110 I've got some more modern knifes now as EDC. Still every now and then it is allowed to come along. And it delivers. The only problems are that it's a bit heavier than the Vantage Pro (for example), a bit bulkier, even a bit more intimidating and it needs just a bit more attention to keep it stroppped. The sheath does have an advantage over the clip. Yesterday, it was a bit warm here, my T-shirt didn't want to stay in the waistbelt and wearing working gloves I found it more difficult to find the trouserclipped knife without fumbling around too much. The sheatbuck was better accesible and got to do the most of the work.

I do carry my 110 when I am out doing yard work or just general work around the home. I lately have an itch to pick up a 112. This was one of the first "belt pouch" knives I owned when I was in high school and we all thought it was "cool" to carry them. I guess that shows my age because now they would suspend a person bringing a knife in a school, or call SWAT!

I had the Cabela's Alaskan Guide 110 with S30V blade. I carried it in a Benchmade Balisong sheath, which allowed for horizontal carry. Best of both worlds: Great steel, easy carry.

That knife was stolen, and I'm still planning on replacing it, as I loved that knife!

Get a sheath that you like, and carry an American Institution!

Check out Ebay seller mt4use. He's a leather smith that make a pancake style belt sheath that rides real well. I've got two of them I use for a couple of different knives and would probably use more but right hand side belt real estate is rather precious.

I do have a cross draw style sheath that was made for a 110. I thought it would work for another knife I have but it doesn't. If you interested shoot my a PM.

If you find the 110 sheath a bit big why not get a 112 great features of the Buck 110 just scaled down a bit. Which obviously makes for a smaller sheath and easier carry.

I have an old US made Schrade LB-7 I feel similarly about.

It sure is a beefy knife.

I have an old 110 that was given to me by my wife's maternal grandfather. It is currently with Reese getting cleaned up. It's an old one, late 70's with a 440c blade.

I wanted Reese to make me a 110 on steroids, with a 3/16" S30V blade at 4.75" long. It would have a thick liner lock with a full backspacer that would double as a false lockback to keep with the look. That project is way back on some burner... not happening for a while.

Phew, quite a low bevel you got there

I have a 110 and 112; though i love them, I don't usually carry them. To me, they are too unwieldy to carry (heavy, sliding in pockets, big sheath), but they're still great knives.

The 110 EcoLite with nylon sheath only weighs 4.88 oz while the beefy brass & wood 110 with leather sheath tips the scales at 9.44 oz.

If you attach the lite and comfy EcoLite & sheath to your belt in a horizontal manner, you gotta trust the snap, then it is not in the way to the extent that it would be if mounted up & down.

I guess that I have come full circle in my knife preferences. I started off with a 110 and after many forays into other brands, my Bucks are back on my belt. I am not really sure why, but I prefer the heft of the 110, CSAR-T, 277, etc. I have no problem with a belt sheath and any of the ones that Buck makes are good.

A word to the wise, don't store your 110 or 112 in a leather sheath, as the brass will tarnish and turn green. That doesn't apply to Nickel/Silver of course.

Exactly what happened to the one I was gifted.

I had that happen to a Case Exchanger I got as a gift. Nothing worked until I tried Flitz- great stuff!
