I’ve been noticing a disturbing trend in production moving from Taiwan to China. Not to mention dropping European and Japanese steel for Chinese. It’s a shame, Cold Steel will likely join the long list of Walmart knives that are a shadow of their firmer selves.

I was disgruntled when Schrade USA, Camillus USA and even Gerber went "under" and reappeared as chinese crap.

I found other stuff though, because face it... there's a metric shit-ton of stuff for us knife knuts to ooh and ahh over at any given time.

I have Cold Steel stuff, but it really never was "Cold Steel USA" anyways, so I'm relatively unaffected by this news, if it's even news.

Maybe this doesn't change a damned thing. Maybe this is much ado 'bout nothing. I dunno.

I'm sure whatever happens though, our hobby will be just as fun as it ever was.

I won't speak for him, but I didn't take his post that way. I took it to imply that they'll become much deeper involved in the cheap, budget, knife market and move further and further away from their quality offerings. If that is what he meant, at this point, I think that is a fair concern.

You're correct. I also foresee a rebranding of the not made in PRC knives as Premium or some marketing clever word, and hike the prices up. Gold Steel or something.

Lynn said that I was the only friend he had in the knife industry. While we didn't agree on marketing strategies, I have always had respect for his knives and his quality. Lynn is unique and Lynn is Cold Steel. I wish him and Bri all the best in their future.

I wish the best for your company as well, Mr. Glesser. I’m glad my Father introduced me to Spyderco knives.
