i just got back from a local gun and knife show in Mesquite, TX where i purchased a very nice knife made by John Ownby of Plano, TX. as soon as i saw his neck knives, i had to have one. he has them in stag, wood, buffalo bone and micarta handles. all the blades were 440C. he had several types of knives, and all looked very well done, to me.
the neck knife i purchased has stag handles with a built in integral guard. the blade is about 3.3". it is a drop point flat ground blade. he only makes about 50 knives per year, and he does his own heat treating and kydex work. (kydex on neck knives, he had leather pouch type sheaths for his other stuff. this knife, and most of his knives have that untactical look, but when held, seem very tactical. most people would think that they are nice utility pieces - they do not look dangerous at all. his business card reads "Specializing in high quality flat ground blades".
anyone heard of him?
