Ever heard of this place

I've seen them sold as 'line throwers' and as ballistic clubs (just a weighted head and no blade) for about $135.

No problem, Guillaume; happy to share. I'm not sure what company manufactured the ballistic knife, although I think there were more than one.

I heard that they've been manufactured in a couple of areas, one of them being florida. It is commonly known as the spetznaz (spelled phonetically). And I believe it originated in Russia. I'm also pretty sure that spetznaz means or has something to do with the words special forces or their equivalent of.

By the way, I also heard that during the 80's you could pretty much order the parts out of some mail order catalogues and build one yourself. Needless to say, that's changed.

I know a gentleman who has two. Our take on them is that they are an interesting collector piece, but have very little practical value. After seeing how powerful they are, driving the blade to the hilt in 3/4 inch plywood at 15 feet, and how sensitive the trigger mechanism is, we agreed it is as dangerous to the user as the BG. The idea of carrying one concealed on my person, even with the safety on, is scary.

Heck ya! Ballistic knives are awesome!
But a agree they are a little too risky for me, especially since I live in CA.
