Ever loan a knife out just to see how messed up it comes back?

Every non-knife person i know wants to use my knife as a screwdriver.

That's because there is no screwdriver around and they all think that is why you carry a knife/blade...For an emergency,, like screwing a thing down on the car engine. etc.

Nobody borrows my knives.

If they want something cut, then I will cut it for them.

stoffi,
For a cheap SAK knockoff give-away knife, look at Rough Rider brand. They are only $1.99 each. I have several in red but I just noticed that they also have them in blue - item #RR842 on Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

Thanks man!

because I could give 2 shits about that knife.

That mean you "could" give two shits. You could also give 100 shits. If I'm not mistaken the correct term is "I couldn't give". I'm only mentioning this because I just watched a whole British comedy routine about this.

And no, I do not give out my knives.

Generally most of the people I'm around don't find themselves needing a knife, are not confident in using one (of of my friends has an outright fear of blades and other sharp objects-yet works at a bakery), or would do something dumb with it, so I prefer to maintaing control over my blades. However, if I know the person I'm lending the knife to for a quick task has enough skill, I have no qualms about handing over my knife for a minute, so for me, it's usually situational.

Would I lend out a knife for weeks and weeks of intentional hard work and abuse? No. They can go buy their own knife from almart or something for that. A cheap Sheffield or even a Gerber will cut carpet and drywall or roofing or whatever just as good as my Spydercos will.

I bought everyone at work a knife for Christmas one year. When they have their own, they don't need to borrow mine.
