So today was hanging around with the kids at home mostly. Self employment is great :) I had to run to the post office to drop off some packages and while there they made me re-box an sks stock that I was shipping (yes Kelso204, it's on it's way) The kids were running around being crazy and I was using my Buck Creek Whittler to make myself a new box out of a couple of priority shipping boxes. I do the job, set the knife down, I go and pay at the counter and go home. I start making dinner and sit down to read some books to the little ones. Half way though Transformers Roll Call I realize that I'm missing my knife!
The kids are pretty excited at this point.
So I jump up, throw boots on the kiddos and race to the post office! I found the knife right where I left it under a tape gun on the back counter. :D

Have you all ever lost a knife and found it across town 2 hours later?

Glad you got your knife back Chris. If it happened here you'd probably have your door kicked in and be dragged off, hooded and manacled, before being thrown into a cold, dark dungeon, with your knife ritualy destroyed in front of your eyes!*

* Any exaggeration is moderate!

I lost my Ladybug. Probably fell out of my pocket when I pulled my keys out. I went back and looked for it, but someone had probably taken it. It's gone. The same week I lost a badge I had on my bag, while getting on a train. Really pissed me off, since it can't be replaced. I went back to the train station later and managed to find it, though.

I have lost several never found them...a SAK hunting (pocket lining ripped), a Kershaw Storm II fishing set it down forgot to pick it up (have about 10 more), a Mora camping etc.

Spyderco honeybee when i seperate it from keys dont remember where i put it so....:D

And when i was 9 or 10 years old i took my fathers victorinox classic to school. And i wanna show it to my friend without teachers seeing it so we go to wc and while playing with it sak classic slipped frm my hands and dropped in to the nasty closet hole :D

I dropped my Spyderco Police into the snow when it unclipped from my pants while bringing in firewood. I thought it would be easy to find, but the shiney metal blends into the snow. The snow was more than knee deep and the warm knife melted its way down into the snowpack. I found it the next day using the neighbors metal detector.

I hate to lose knives, tools, whatever and fortunately I've lost very few in many years. The only knife I can ever recall losing is one that I mailed off for a trade through the forums here. The person advertising the trade decided they didn't want to trade with me but they never sent my knife back either.

I've lost two. I lost the SAK that I got for christmas one year as a kid - that really sucked. It wasn't an expensive knife or anything, but it was my first knife and I had carried it all over hell's half-acre, learned to sharpen with it, used it at my first job... :thumbdn:

More recently, I lost a plain-jane Manix 2 at work. That knife, too, had done quite a lot of work in the time I had it, and I was pretty bummed about losing it.

Never recovered either of those, unfortunately.

Close to the end of July I returned home from a trip to Colorado and soon after flew out to see my girlfriend who was working out of state for the summer. Standing in line for security I became very concerned that I had left my tenacious in my bag. Needless to say it is the only knife I have thrown away. $40 isn't worth dealing with the TSA.

Lost my first Spyderco, a black rescue, at a party in high school. I was sitting on a couch on someone's porch and it must have worked it's way out of my back pocket. There have been a few others but that one and my first leatherman (a PST II) are the two I wish I could get back.

In college I had 3 knives my Vantage Avid, Vantage Pro, and a S&W cheapo confiscated by the university police that searched my room because my roommate got a noise complaint while drinking in there while I was gone. I petitioned them claiming not only was my stuff searched without my permission but also that I use my knives for hiking, hunting, etc. and keep them safely packed away for storage. I was able to get my knives back at the end of the semester. It was a good feeling walking into the police station unarmed and coming out with 3 knives.

when i was 16 i lost my first really swiss army knife i was that was fifteen years ago and it still bums me out to think about it :(

I lost my warren thomas credit card knife, put it away somewhere because i was flying back home to visit and couldn't take it with me. Never found it again. Also lent a surefire l4 lumamax to a friend and he dropped it in the snow never to be seen again.

This thread brings tears to my eyes - Congrats on finding yours - My list of never found: numbered first run BM Rukus, Microtech LCC, BM AFCK, couple of Endura's

Glad you found your knife Chris!

I've lost two knives (separate occasions) in the last few months, a spydie S90V/CF millie and benchmade 581 barrage. Both instances made me want to vomit as neither are cheap knives. The good news is that I found both; the barrage was hiding in another knife box  I don't remember putting it in there at all and it doesn't make sense... :foot:

The military ended up as a stow away hiding out in my backpack for about a week.

I really need to keep better track of my stuff!

I've never lost a knife and recovered it later =(. Actually thinking back the loss of a knife is kinda what got me into this... I wanted to build its replacement. But the way things are going I may have to commission someone to do it... but enough about me...

I'm glad to hear that you got your knife back!

I lost my Para 2 about a month ago. I'm still trying to come to terms with this great loss. But they say time heals. Each passing day eases the pain just a little bit more.
