Ever really had to survive?

Biker mike thats a cool way to say it. Its very close to what i say... Except i used the word misplaced instead of embarrassed. As a friend of my says, you are only lost if you have to be some where else, Other wise you are only geographicly misplaced.. I wonder if you were working on ships before. They seem to say that more offten lol.

When I was younger I used to hitchhike a lot. I would guess I must have done twenty or thirty thousand miles of hitchhiking in my life.

Anyway I once got forced out of a car at gunpoint on a tiny road - really a track - somewhere in the Mojave. I got found by a guy the next day who had been at the end of the road doing some type of shutdown work on an old oil well that had gone dry. I was unconscious from dehydration and lying by the side of the road. I don't remember enough to give any useful tips though! Well, except, I guess, these three:

Carry plenty of fluids
Don't hitchhike
Don't not drink for a couple of days in the desert in the middle of summer

There you have it, words of wisdom!

Although I haven't been to the point of being really lost, I tend to like to put my self in high risk positions more often than I should. I have had to back track 17 miles in the desert after I was out of water. A very pore position to be in. I have also had to swim in about 1/2 mile towing a disabled boat. I have had episodes in the tropics and in Arctic conditions.
there are three things that have enabled me to not only survive but to flourish in adversity. The first is
physical fitness, the second is mental toughness, and the third is physical strength. I do draw a distinct difference between physical fitness and strength. There has been to many events in my life that being fit wasn't enough. Of course perhaps I just look for trouble.
