Hey guys,

My wife produced this stainless steel folding cup out of an old backpack of hers the other day, and I WANT ONE!!! She said that her dad bought it for her years and years ago from Brigade Quartermasters, but after hours of searching online, I was unable to find anything like this.

If you've ever seen one, or know where to get them, PLEASE let me know! I think it's just the best designed folding cup/bowl I've ever seen.

i recall ray mears making something like that out of birch bark in the country tracks series

I've got one. Can't remember where I put it or where I got it. Quite possibly from BQ, I've bought so much from them. I'll try to remember. I actually caried it at work for a while. More convenient than paper cups for the bottled water.

nah Parke, thats not a cup, thats a Jack Bauer folding pocket satellite dish!! :D

neat cup, never seen that before!

Used to be pretty common. Still have mine somewhere. I think I got it thru a boy scout supply. Back in the day when wild water was safe to drink, it was real handy to get a drink from a tiny seep spring, could also be used as a signaling mirror.

Nope, unfortunately it's completely blank. No marks of any kind.

I figure if I wind up not being able to find any for sale anywhere, then it'll be off to a fab shop of some sort to see if I can have some made...

Thanks for the input, guys, and if anyone has any leads, let me know!

I used to have one of those cups the original poster asked about. Maybe I still do have it. If I remember correctly, it came from an old Early Winters catalog back in the late 70s or very early 80s. I don't think I ever used it except for an initial "testing." The edges are sharp. It's shape makes it very prone to spilling. You can't set it down while filled. It's a little better than just cupping you hand, but cupping your hand is much more convenient. It's light and it's flat, but it's also one of those things that looks cooler than it really is. I suspect if they were as useful as they would seem, they'd still be around.

I kinda remember seeing them as a portable sake cup, maybe in a gadget store in Japan years back.
