Ever tried this with a military?

I flip, fiddle, flick, finger, and fondle my knives all the time.
It's funny watching some people handle knives, and in turn, im sure they think it's funny watching me handle knives.

Geez, bunch of grumpy old men in here. Ease up, you've never played with any of your knives ever??????

That's a pretty good video actually. If stop pin wear were such a problem would you see all the assisted openers from Kershaw and Benchmade?

agreed on this a thumb or any other flick isnt harder than an assisted opening or most autos i've seen. and no the stop pins on those arent larger either. i always spyderdrop my milies, never any problem, their lockup is stable. my older is a digicam from the first batch, so it has seen some flicking...

.....not trying to be "cool" ;) just a demonstration vid....but I don't buy quality folders just to play with them (although they see "playtime" more than anything :) ) this knife has been my edc for around 2 years now, the lock has not moved an iota, and its been flicked thousands of times. Like I mention in the video I do just manually open the knife of thumb flick it 90% of the time...

Fun video!
I have one similar.

Manual open and thumb flick are the most common ways I open my spydies.
It's fun to change it up once in a while though.
Friends always get a kick out of the many variations of deployment spydies have to offer.

I play with my knives when I'm at home. I never flick them out or do anything fancy when I'm around other people that might not be knife people. I can't do the middle finger flick yet. I like the compression lock on the para 2 since it makes closing it easier and more fun.

My digi camo / black blade military is several years old, has been used ALOT, and only shows wear just above the edge, so it's a tough coating.
And the op may only use it for light cutting tasks.

I don't understand the need to be flashy with opening a knife. Not really cool in my book.

I also don't look upon a knife as a plaything or as a set of worry beads...

Is there a correlation to post count and playing with knives?

Righto...don't worry about it, you'll grow up someday. ;)

BTW, you forgot that I also carry a handgun. :)

OK, we got it, you're all grown up.

I appreciate your effort and it is a nice video. Apparently it is...to whom may concern.
I myself just do the thumb open.

I find manually opening it to be plenty quick and fun enough for me. The one thing I've tried but can never do is the thumb flick. I see people on videos just casually flick their thumb without using their wrists and the blade just flies open. I guess it's one of those things like whistling or snapping your fingers.... can't do those either. :p

The key is to build up a little pressure and flick your thumb up towards the pivot rather than out away from the handle. As previously mentioned certain knives are more flickable than others.
