Ever try a Douk Douk?

I'm glad you like 'em, they're pretty durn good knives. I'm especially fond of the small one, just the right size for a pocketknife you're going to no-kidding carry in your pocket all day. Tell the truth, getting both of 'em for $27.50 feels a little bit like stealing don't it? ;) :D

p.s.: they remind me alot of a knife my kid brother loved so much that he carried his until it was wore slap out, Mercator K-55 from Solingen, Germany

It's true, makes me want to buy more of them. Maybe I'll go ahead and order the BIG one, so I'll have them all!

Pls don't tell my wife.....

Thanks again for all the good info here. After reading another thread on Douks last fall (2006) I had to try a Douk for myself. Since I had discovered that Frogs (just kidding!) make good Opinel folders, I figured maybe the Douk was another good knife. IT WAS!!! I ordered the pair (small and large, large being the original size) from [Active link Deleted] for [pricing details]. After carrying them both and using them some I decided the original 4-inch size suits me the best. Now it's always with me, along with a SAK. Last week I decided to order another Douk and a Mercator "cat knife" K55 to go with it due to the similar construction. So far, I like the Douks better. I prefer carbon steel blades, but the currently made Mercators (from Otter in Solingen) have stainless blades. I expect it to be perfectly serviceable, though. The Douks have a strong spring and don't need a lock, but the Mercators have a lockback design that is stiff and hard to operate. I've lubed it (Militec-1, and they'll send you free samples) and it's eased up a bit, but the lock plus the strong spring is still hard to operate, and I like to think I still have strong hands. I'd like to try one of the humongous 5-inch Douks, but the only source I know of is Szabo, and I can't quite bring myself to sink [pricing details] (we both live in Florida) into something else I don't need. :D

Very easy knife to put an edge on, and light and slim, so you hardly know you're carrying anything at all. Still carrying mine.
