Ever work for a funeral home? Know anyone who has?

My best friend in high schools dad owned a funeral home.

We used the hearse (Caddy Limosine)for our wheels for the prom. It was fun picking up our dates in that thing. Mindy Pendleton - god I miss her:) Anyway, the look on her mom's face was priceless.

His dad was a practical jokester. We had a coffin for one Halloween - complete with a blow up doll.

My dad has been a funeral director for about 15 years. (Colorado is the only state that does not require funeral directors to be licensed). It's the perfect job for him, he has the ability to separate himself from the grossness factor and the intense grief, and yet the families he works with all say his big heart and caring attitude made this time better for them. He says the only thing he regrets is that he meets such nice people (the families) during the worst time of their lives.
And hell yea, he's got some crraazy stories.

Funeral directors, Licenced to what? Kill?

Some days, today is one, I feel like I am working for a bunch of stiffs. Except in the morgue the stiffs don't sod off to Mauritius on holiday in the middle of something important.
