Just saw a small piece of news on the telly. A sherpa chalked up a record when he reached the peak of Everest in eight hours. Now, that's what I call a record.
Definitely not from the base of the mountain...! Climbers start from a base camp which is situated at 5,350 meters (17,550 feet). The summit itself is at 8,850 meters (29,035 feet). The new record shattered the old one by about 2 hours, which is truly amazing...
