Title gotcha - didn't it?

This was a true pleasure to build.
One of those knives that comes along where I enjoy every minute.
The 7 1/2" W2 blade was clay processed for a nice hamon.
I was lucky enough, quite a few years ago, to acquire a nice stash of 1903 wrought iron. I used a piece of 1" round and twisted it, and then forged it back flat, for the guard. This was etched for an hour to show the beautiful figure within.
Now, that handle is something new to me. I got it from Chuck Bybee and it is called "Afzelia Lay".
I've used Afzelia many times, but I think the term "Lay" has to do with the direction of the cut. (Wish I had a bushel basket of it!)
Regardless, it's just knock-out stuff.
Balances right between the Maker's Mark and the face of the guard.
Please stop by and see it in Atlanta.

Now I'm gonna go work on my 'Brute de Forge' Folding Tactical Fillet Knife for Survivalist Cowboys......
........with a serrated gut-hook!

Very nice, Karl. How hot did you have to get that wrought to twist it without it coming apart on you?

That's a fine looking Bowie! I like that guard allot.

Nice Fighter/Bowie Karl-Looks Like It's Quick & Has Great Balance. It's The Right Size For Carrying Concealed When Needed.I Wouldn't Kick It Out Of My Collection For Eating Crackers In Bed;)!!!
Keep Up The Great Work,
Buddy S.:cool::thumbup:

Beautiful. I like everything about this one. I wouldn't have expected the tip to come up quite so far and I really really like the effect.

It is always a great pleasure seeing your work, Karl. Looking forward to finding you at Blade!

WTF?
:D

You knocked this one out of the park my man:thumbup:

Very nice Karl. In fact, possibly my favorite Andersen bowie to date.

Love the blade shape/clip and your choice of handle material. I especially like the contrast between the carbon steel blade and wrought iron guard. You really achieved nice color/grain from your etch.

I will say that, though well balanced it looks slightly handle heavy to my eye as a result of the considerable girth towards the handle butt. However I expect overall ergonomics are improved by this.

Maybe you have something in your eye!

I guess I don't understand your statement.
"it looks slightly handle heavy"?
It's actually a tad nose-heavy, like I stated in my description.
You can fondle it in Atlanta and tell me what you think then.

I like every detail of your knife. Blade, handle, fit and finish. It all works very well together, with no competing elements. I do have one question. Something I see on many well made custom knives. How is it that that the area where the Ricasso meets the front of the guard has no visable solder at this junction? Also there is no spacer between the guard and handle. How are these components assembled and is it water tight? Thank you for any information provided, Stephen
