Hey all
Just wondering who carries a PSK of sorts on them or within imediate reach on a daily basis.
I'm not interested in large packs in the car or similar, BOBs etc.
I've always got a folder, cell, watch, and money on me. When I have my bag with me, for work or college, there's usually a small flashlight and sometimes a magnesium/flint firestarter. If i'm headed to/from work, there's also a whistle or two & a CPR mask ( i'm a lifeguard)

So, I'm wondering what everyone carries in the way of a PSK whenever they're headed out to school or work or similar, not their hiking/camping etc PSK

Well, I have a bob suited for a car camp or overnighter in all my vehicles. I have my psk a canvas military pouch in my truck always with the everyday stuff, magnessium, 550 cord, flashlight, lighter, waterproof matches, small first-aid, xtra knife, signaling mirror, fire fox whistle, small fishing kit, plastic zip-lock back, foil, various sizes of pins, threaded sewing needle with thread compass, head-lamp. I also have a fishing pole and tackle in my truck so I can stop and fish at anytime!

A good carry option to put your psk stuff in is a cheap plastic travel bar soap container. It works really well and holds most of said stuff. It is easy to carry and weighs next to nothing. Very easily put in a cargo pocket, back-pack etc. Try it out I think you may find it works really well for a person on the go.

I carry in my pockets at work only a SAK, chap stick, wallet. My backpack is brought in and placed at my feet by my desk. It has a few things in it that make me feel better about being there, but are not things I get out to share. It's essentially a BoB+, I have more stuff in my vehicles.

I don't make a big deal out of it, but by putting a lot of things on my belt, keyring, and watch I don't have to wonder about forgetting much. The rest of it gets pretty much transferred when I move my wallet and stuff from old pants to new pants. I double up on fire, cutters, and compasses, and I am trying to remember to keep a 1 qt ziplock with me at all times.

Victorinox super tinker with horizontal mounted belt sheath
Paracord lanyard on tiny LED flashlight (attached to knife)
4-in-1 compass, mirror, whistle, lens (keys)
1/2 inch diameter mag rod with embedded flint and hacksaw stub (keys)
P38 can opener (keys)
Vic Classic (keys)
Artificial Sinew or Dental Floss (pocket)
Butane lighter (pocket)
Button compass (watchband)
Fresnel lens in pocket of note pad (pocket)
Ballpoint pen for a drinking straw or leaving notes (pocket)

I almost always have more, but I always have the stuff above-listed. If the weather's bad, I usually throw in an water tabs, extra flashlight, extra butane, and a LM Wave. Stuff happens.

Nuf sed.

Flash light, SAK, Keys, Lighter, Jumpdrive and pen are allways on my person. I now stick this under my seat.

Photon knock off flash light
Leatherman Squirt P4
Mini mag/flint
~1/2 a PJ cotton ball (in spy capsule)
5 aspirin (in second capsule)
REI whistle
Ritter Grip

I tried a bigger kit like the altoid tin thing but knew that I would eventually start leaving it home because it fills the pocket too much. This combo is in two seperate pockets and works well with the wallet and key chain.

I always carry on my person when not sleeping for the night:

a small bag: LED, Paperclip, 3 Waxed cotton balls, sm Lighter, Hemp cordage.

2 Spyderco folders

I usually have a backpack with me that has a bunch of stuff. My cell phone, Leatherman, foodbars, Inova flashlight, carabiner, bandana and pencil paper.

My car also has various lashing/cordage, pretty decent first aid kit, and a collapsing snow shovel and sleeping bag durring the winter.
There's usually also a crank flashlight and/or a 1 mil candlepower rechargable one.

Sounds like my main needs to add are a portable flashlight on my person, and some fire-starting stuff?
I'm not sure how likely i'd be to need fire anywhere between or at home/school/work though, barring some major disaster.. in which case I'd be majorly unprepared without a full BOB or similar.

Even a lighter or two, and a Mini mag, or any light of compact size.

Easy enough.
The flashlight mentioned in my first post was a 2xAA Mini mag, I might pick up one of the LED upgrade kits at EMS.
I can throw my magnesium starter in the bag, and a bic mini in a pocket or pouch on the bag also, i'm just still at a loss as to when i'll use it

Mine is one and the same for hiking and just leaving the house. It contains all the same gear and is housed in a shoulder bag.

Two items not in the photo, that were added later, is a leatheman, which was added to the side pocket and a notebook.

I have cell phone, wallet, keys, folder on my person. The key ring actually has 2 flashlights (photon and a small twist light) and a mini sak.

In my work bag I have a fenix l1p, spyderco caly jr, compass, water, paracord and some "work-place survival gear." This consists of a comb, disposable razor, toothbrush, Advil and deodorant. It really helps in getting presentable on those rushed mornings. Whether this is necessary really depends on the type of work environment you're in.

The reason why I carry fire, 2 knives and a LED on me always is you just don't know when and where something can hit you. I have had large wake up calls but this one is a small one. One day, I went out to the store to get something to drink, I met up with someone I knew, out of nowhere, I was in another part of town without my car and all my gear. Nothing happened but it does tell you life happens whether you are prepared or not. I chose to be prepared. With fire I can make just about anything.

Well, along with my various pens, pencils, thumbdrives, screwdrivers and the like for work, my Bag of Tricks also has a lighter, zipties, spare flashlight, spare SAK, batteries, LM E4, real dikes, heat shrink, a couple of quart and a gallon ziplock, some matches, tiny sewing kit, a micro FAK (mostly copied the parts list for a Pocket Medic), some paracord, some jute, a big piece of aluminum foil, a folded contractor bag, and some duct and electricians tape. Yeah, there is a reason it is called a "Bag of Tricks". :)

Add to it an LM Supertool and Gerber Infinity on my belt, and a whistle, Solitaire and Micra on my keys- I think I'm well covered.
