It has started again - Registered users posting about knife sales and selling questions.

I will refresh the rules , again. Only Knifemaker and above membership level members can post photos of knives they are selling, post about knife sales and such, and post questions about selling knives. Registered users and basic members don't have that privilege.

Additionally, no member, regardless of level, is not allowed to post with any direct sales offers or buying offers.

The way to be allowed to post about a knife you make/made and are selling or ask sales related questions is to get a Knifemaker membership.

Lets look at it this way:
Suppose you belong to a club/society that holds monthly meetings where they have snacks and refreshments after the speaker gave a great talk about things of interest. A fellow comes every month and listens intently to the speakers, asking many questions. He converses with all the members during the social time and passes out his business cards. He eats a good helping of snacks and drinks a couple of sodas - every month. He never joins the club or offers to bring anything. What would you call this guy?

Second point:
The readers of these non-compliant posts are just as much at fault when they answer these threads. Unless you are pointing out that the sales talk is not allowed for registered users, DO NOT respond to these folks and let the mods take care of it.

Bladeforums is a team effort. If we all follow the rules and help keep others follow them, the whole place will function better.

Just to be clear, registered users can post photos of their knives and do WIPs. They just can not have any sales related talk or threads. We are always glad to see what you are making, just don't tell us or ask question about your sales.

Allowed:
"I finished this knife today. ....."
This is an Idea I am working on...."
I did a WIP on a knife I make for you fellows...."

Not Allowed:
"I just finished this knife and am shipping it to the buyer."
"I sold this knife to a guy are work."
"This is my new Attila the Hun model. It is becoming one of my best sellers."
"A friend wants me to make a knife for him, what should I charge him."
"I need to ship a knife to a buyer in UK, what payment is best."

So the thread where a buyer hadn't picked up a shipped knife and it was going to be returned is out unless the seller has a high enough level purchased...right?
I didn't realize this was a rule. I get why, but I also never look at people's membership level either. I haven't seen this rule in other forums I belong to. I guess I better start looking at membership levels. Sorry for responding to that thread. Where do I look to see the order of membership levels for blade forum?

This shows the different levelshttp://www.bladeforums.com/forums/payments.php

I agree with Stacy. I will add, I almost exclusively use Tapatalk on my phone to browse the forum. It's an extra step to figure out user membership levels, but a necessary one guys. Let's all make the effort to keep this forum strong.
