Everyday Carry--what's available

I have kind of lost touch with the changes and what is available in the market today. There have been many changes and I quite frankly have not kept up. For the past two years I have carried a BM 705 everyday including work in a suit. It is a great knife for daily carry particularly in business attire but is a little small (at least for me) for general outdoors use. I have an old BM linerlock with a kraton handle and 3.25" blade with a thumb-stud that only allows right handed opening. The handle is 4.33" long and about .5" wide. This seems perfect overall. However, it is only right handed opening.

What is available that fits those parameters? I really don't want to spend much more than $100. I like the BM 720 but the blade seems a bit too wide. Any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks.

I'm pretty new to knives but I did some research and settled on the BM 705. I really like this knife a lot but have been looking for a second knife as a backup or to make a rotation. One of the knives that I'm considering that fits your specs is the Microtech Mini Socom. It has a 3.25" blade and thumb studs on both sides. It's also light at 2.4oz and uses 154CM like the BM. Oh yeah, it's $86 at Newgraham.

Good luck!

if you like the 705 and the axis lock, and just want bigger, check out the 710 (especially the one with M2 steel)

The BM 710 is a great knife but I think it is a little big for pocket carry. I have an original AFCK that I really like but no matter how I try it, it isn't comfortable in my jeans or slacks. I also would prefer something with a stronger, less flexible handle. Thanks.

Why don't you get a waved CQC7? Its about the same bbl as the 705 and it opens on the draw.

..and have recently gone to small fixed blades.

This is todays carry.

I alternate between the gecko and the Busse AS of late...
