Everyday EDC and Survival

for 5 years, I been carrying a multitude of items, flashlight, folder, multitool, gps, zippo, bandaids (because they stick on me).

With only these items, I always feel safer, when either driving or walking through the city.

I carry a farmer for edc, but may switch to the much more compact cadet, its orange alox and sweet so thin. It has a main blade, nail file, bottle opener and can opener.
I don't really need an awl or saw for edc.

On my keys I have sliver gripper tweezers, alox classic, pill fob with antihistamines, spare cuff key, (work in corrections) a cheap led flashlight, and soon to have a mini bic in a normark kydex carrier. Sometimes I add my leatherman squirt Ps4, I love that thing.

I have a folder or two (carrying a Vic. Electrician for a couple of months), if I am working a neck knife, chapstick, lighter, pen, and assorted cards (drivers license, bank cards, some business cards, safeway card and AMA card). I never considered the key on the shoelaces but will now. Much different from some is the fact that I prefer cash! Every time I watch a news announcement about protecting your identity they never seem to mention that you identity is never stolen off of a $20!!!! But here in Canada there is not much of a worry about being mugged, and I never carry all of my cash in one place- a left over habit from going to flea markets, gun and antique shows- "Hey man this is the last of my cash so that is all I can offer you!"

Someone mentioned shoelaces.
After getting gouged regularly for replacement shoelaces for my hiking boots (2-6$ per pair!) i finally wised up.
Paracord is around 10 cents a foot and you can cut it to any length you want.
It works great as shoe/bootlaces and is superstrong!

In a sense i guess thats part of my EDC and "survival" gear as well!
:)

I would have my Benchmade Nimravus, vic huntsman, or Rucksack. Sometype of multitool in my pack, keys, money(cards) and a little cash. Light(Inova T1 and mini mag), watch, cordage, and Zippo.

I always make sure I have just a few essentials, even when running up to the store.

Watch (Marathon GSAR)
Wallet (always have about $50-100 cash, Driver's License, Mil-ID and CHL)
Oakley Half-Jacket's
Folding knife (or two)
SAK (either an Outrider or most likely a SAK Farmer)
Burt's Bees chapstick
Cell Phone
LED Flashlight (Fenix, Surefire or Novatac)
Compact "Space" pen
Small peanut lighter, Mini-Bic or small Windmill butane lighter

Depending on what I'm wearing (usually something with cargo pockets), I'll add:
550-cord; about 4-6 feet braided, at least one hank sometimes two
Small flat role of 100mph tape (aka duct-tape), usually about 6-10 feet
Folded cravat/bandana

I have a few small (about the size of two stacked quarters) dental floss tin dispensers that hold about 10 meters of dental floss. Another small item that has multiple uses. I do have a very small, flat PSK/FAK that has a few bandaids, moleskin, needles and safety pins, but unless I have cargo pockets, it's usually in the vehicle/daypack and not a true EDC...(I need to fix that though).

I always try to carry a fixed blade (I carry a 5" bladed Mad Dog PATAK for duty), even if it's a small Fallkniven WM-1 (in a MercHarness) or a Gossman PSK.

Additionally, I will aways have a CCW if I can legally carry it where I go; as big as my Bobtail .45 or more compact such as my S&W Centennial .38 or Kel-Tech P32....my EDC for hikes is a Glock 23 in .40SW or my newly aquired Charter Bulldog in .44 SPL.

The key-chain always has a few EDC items...
Whistle
Mini-Prybar
Photon LED
Nail clippers
Sliver Grippers (should be carried by everyone!)
Utilikey

If I'm packing a belt-mounted multitool, I really like the Leatherman belt pouches as I can get a small DMT sharpener, AAA LED and a small Ferro-rod in the accessory pouches as well:

Don't forget a good pair of walking/hiking shoes or boots, a decent pull-over and/or windbreaker and I usually have a good pair of gloves and hat within reach.

One of my city kits although I seldom get near a real city:D

You have to love that little Bersa .380. My wife selected the Bersa over Beretta, Sig and Walther for a .380...I like it so much, I'm tempted to get my own!
