I also live in rust belt and am a steel worker and yes we are all hard working blue collar and it is time for change. To many people live off the government. We work so hard. 10 hr days 6 days a week and are always broke. That makes no sence. Most guys at our shop work two jobs to support there families. That's not quality life. Seeing your kids only at bed time and Sunday's.

+1. I think what we saw was not so much an endorsement of Trump, I know I have lots of problems with him, but a condemnation of the establishment. Enough is enough. We want something different. If nothing else, this should give notice to both parties. We are not going to put up with this anymore.

I went to a special pre-election prayer service at church Tuesday night. Lots of prayer for direction of our country, praying around the edges without mentioning names, although I suspect everyone there would vote for Trump. I was the only one who came right out and asked for what everyone was skating around. Then I went home and went to bed, didn't even turn on the TV. I figured that I had placed it in hands infinitely more wise and capable than mine and to fret and worry after that would not be appropriate. Got a good night's sleep and didn't know the result until my wife awakened me with an enthusiastic "Trump won!"

I did the same. Met at church, and then went to bed. Glad to hear the news this morning hoping for good things to come. Cheap ammo, more knives, and a mild winter!

Protesters burning flags today. I guess it is pretty obvious which side is made up of thugs. The people and god spoke. The prayer was "please do not let the most crooked family in DC take control of the white house again. Please do not let the thugs that support that family have control" and God answered. okeedokee......

Politics was yesterday buddy, today is celebration of freedom to choose to vote or not, which every American had an equal opportunity to do, or not do, as they wished. Coming here to party poop on a thread about why we slept in or didn't after the vote is not cool. :thumbdn: We're still suffering 8 years of economic decline, I have lost over $5,000 of money to support my family just this year in the fuel hauling industry delivering gas & diesel to gas stations which rarely sees a slump, let alone this bad, and it is transportation industry wide. It's so bad I have had to take over the road hauls when I used to be home every night with my wife and boys. So if we can celebrate hope that we have already hit rock bottom so we can start to climb up and out of this dark hole for one day that would be really nice.

See Moderator's response before yours, maybe have a drink, hold a Busse and lighten up dude. Life's too short as it is to ruin this family friendly forum with a poor sport attitude, and no, I am not a mod either, I am just a man who works a lot of long hours and is tired of the divisive negativity as are many. The guy we got isn't perfect, but who is and nobody better wanted the job or had the ability to win it. Best wishes to all!

Man, I wish you guys would have stayed up and watched it. That was history unfolding before your eyes. Every election is a little bit of history, but I think this was a fundamental shift in the direction of our country. Only time will tell, but I have high hopes.

Yup.... A lot of people just don't react too well when confronted with opposing views. If I'd loose this big, I'd be pissed for sure. But I'd be looking at myself, soon enough, and wonder if my views weren't the ones that needed reviewing. We seem to have lost the capacity for introspection.
Just found out that I lost a 15 years friendship over this election cycle.
Might have lost a second friendship (40 years) ..... He does occasional contracts for the U.N. A globalist for sure. We got into it last Thursday. Didn't end the evening too well.... One of my 2 oldest friends.

Same here. Funny thing is, I don't beleive in extremes. Right or left. I've always been " centre left" until last year. I now consider myself centre right. Paying the price for it. But... It is what it is....

Well we were that close to Nuclear War if the other side had won, from what I heard Putin had said. I just hope the new cold war is stopped in its tracks now. And I don't agree with everything the new President has said but I will support him 100%. I hope he lives up to his slogan MAGA.
