I really like my mini-grip in the way it carries and functions with the axis lock and a deep clip. I've decided I'd rather have a drop point rather than the Tanto blade. While I'm at it I'd like to upgrade the blade and get the Orange scales. Satisfaction in most cases? Thanks.

Stay safe, John

PS: I will offer my Tanto mini grip up for sale here, very reasonable after Christmas as I have a request in.

I'm still waiting on my custom but it should be here monday. I'll let you know then. I like the options. I didn't do any custom laser design.

As an aside. did you consider a knife works ritter mini griptilian with orange scales?

I tell you what I didn't like about the process. They sent emails about the progress but I didn't get an email that the knife had shipped. And the emails about the process are weird. In the email it shows a figure indicating there are 4 stages for the knife building process: 1. Laser Cut, 2. Milling, 3. Finishing, 4. Assembly. Never mind that the term "finishing" isn't used for the last step, but the email is titled "Your Custom Knife has completed Steps 3 & 4". You would think that was letting me know that my knife has completed the finishing and assembly stages, but it isn't. Steps 3 & 4 are the two steps required for milling: Blade Mill and Bevel.

I guess the emails are there to involve you in the process so you make more of a connection to the production process, but it was just odd. What they should have done is use numbers for the steps and not number the stages or vice versa. So ultimately I got 4 emails but never got one with the tracking info which is the email I really wanted. They could have skipped the 4 emails and just provided me a way to "check in" on the process if I was interested in that. Now if there were photos of "my knife" that would be one thing, especially before it leaves the factory, but that isn't what I got. I got semi-informative emails. But it is a new process and I get there is a learning curve.

In the 'what's the deal w/ griptilians' thread, or whatever it's called. There was a dude that sent his custom back because the blade was rubbing on one of the liners or something.

Thanks! Didn't know about the Knifeworks, even better blade material, and $28 cheaper. The silver screws aren't worth that. Still interested in knowing about your custom though. Also I would not do the laser engraving either.

I remember one member who ordered his with the engraving and wasn't happy because it came out an odd color.

The Ritters are a great choice. All of my Mini's are MDP, but the Ritter is a true drop point imo and I really like it. That blade shape and the M390 can't be had on a custom oreder. Only the Ritters

I believe he had said that the laser work looked gold instead of silver.

I ordered a custom Full sized Grip and agreed the email process was a little strange about the steps being completed and no info on shipping however less than 10 days from the order I received the knife so all in all it was a good experience ordering from them. I got a Tanto Serrated ( My preffered blade type ) with Desert Sand Scales and all black hardware and blade. Overall Im happy with the ergos of the knife and its design however in my personal opinion from the cutting edge to the top of the blade I personally think its a bit too small for my liking but thats just my own personal prefference, if it was everything I want in a knife I would order another one without question, I think its great to custom build a new piece and I was happy with the customer service especially since I originally ordered some custom engraving and a day later called and was able to cancel the engraving.

Here is what I ordered. Royal blue 555hg s30v coated blade

Am I happy? Yes.

The blue in the photo doesn't exactly match what I got, but what I got is indeed royal blue and looks really good. I think the blue online looks a little more grey, or less deep royal blue, but still it is unique and it is mine.

The blade looks like it almost rubs one of the scales, so I broke out a flashlight to see if I could see space, and I can, but it isn't dead centered. The pivot was a little tight so I loosened it just a hair and put a drop of silicone lube on the washer. I'm sure there is a break in period like any good knife. If the centering is an issue, I'll send it back, but I'm not overly concerned.

Bottom line, ordered on the 15th, got it on the 25th and I'm pleased.

I did but it's the barrage not the grip.

I don't know why they can't get the centering right on these customs.

That's cool. In that picture the way the light is hitting it, it has a rainbow look in the blue.... I really want to get a HG Mini. I've never had one, and I really like the looks. I've been getting into kitchen knives lately, and while it isn't very big, I'm thinking the HG would be great for food prep

Are the modified sheep's foot blades from the custom shop hollow ground or flat ground? Seems I have seen conflicting information.

I bought a full sized grip early this year with the black blade and lime green scales. I was happy with the process overall. I actually received a phone call right after I placed the order to verify what I wanted. It seems they had some tech glitches and the blade style (sheepsfoot vs drop-point, etc) wasn't always what the purchaser requested. I am glad they called because I wanted the drop-point and my order went through as a sheepsfoot. Love the knife and carry it regularly.

I bought a customized mini grip on the website and was so disappointed with it, they actually took it back at a full refund. It was just so poorly made and junky. The injection molding left sharp little points on the handles. One of the handles (scales) had an imperfection in the plastic that looked like dirt. To me the mini griptilian is worth about $30...That's it.
